Local charities are providing plenty of good eating in the upcoming weeks to raise money for their causes.
On Tuesday, the sixth annual Grapes & Gourmet Guys fundraiser to benefit the GriefCare Place will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 10 at Roses Run Country Club, 2636 N. River Road in Stow.
There will be plenty of food to sample when more than 20 local men compete to create the best dish, along with music and live and silent auction items.

• Generations on Parade is the theme for this year’s fundraising event for Mature Services’ The Melting Pot — A Taste of Many Nations, which is set for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at St. George Fellowship Center, 3204 Ridgewood Road, Copley Township.
Chefs will be making dishes from a variety of countries for guests to sample. The evening includes music, a silent auction and raffles.

• Football fans and food lovers will be heading to the event center at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 17 for the annual Taste of the NFL.
The event benefits the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
A team of local chefs will be offering dishes for sampling and local wines will accompany the food. Football hall of famers including Rayfield Wright, Jack Youngblood, Leroy Kelly, Randall McDaniel and Curley Culp will mingle with the crowd, and there will be music and auction items.

Label-reading class is set
The Ohio State University Extension and Medina Community Services Center are sponsoring a free nutrition class, Label Reading 101, at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 10.
The class will focus on reading nutrition labels on food packages to better understand what is inside. The class will be at the Community Services Center, 655 N. Broadway St., Medina. Wine dinner downtown
3 Point Restaurant, 45 E. Market St., downtown Akron, is hosting a wine dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16.
The dinner will feature five wines from Meeker Vineyard provided by Esber Beverages of Canton. Each wine will be accompanied by a small plate food pairing. The tasting event is $50, $90 for two, plus tax and tip. Seating is limited to 50. Phone 3 Point at 330-535-6410 to reserve.
Wine in Wadsworth
The Galaxy, 201 Park Centre Drive, is sponsoring two wine events. The first, 7 p.m. Sept. 20, is a casual tasting of 12 to 15 pinot noirs paired with light appetizers, held in the cellar room. The event is $45, which includes tax.
At 7 p.m. Oct. 18, the restaurant will host a formal, multi-course dinner featuring wines of Bordeaux. The dinner is $99 plus tax and tip.
