If you want to learn more about Fathers and Sons of Northeast Ohio, or are interested in having the organization bring fatherhood education to an individual or group, contact Donald Lykes at 330-376-5018 or e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Lykes, who has certifications to teach fatherhood programming from the National Father Initiative, the National Center for Fathering and the National Partnership for Community Leadership, says it's important to remember that:
• Children who grow up without their fathers in their lives are several times more likely to use drugs, drop out of school and be involved with the juvenile criminal justice system.
• The number of single fathers that are head of households has more than doubled in the last 20 years. A single father heads one out of every six single-parent households.
• Criminal behavior, such as being involved in gang activity, can be traced in part back to a father's absence from a child's life.
