Anniversary events
West Point Market will be celebrating its 75th anniversary from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the store, 1711 W. Market St., Akron.
8 to 10 a.m., free breakfast: Pancakes from Stonewall Kitchen’s, Ohio maple syrup from Richard’s of Chardon, breakfast sausage links, freshly baked biscuits, West Point coffee roasted by Caruso’s of Brecksville and freshly squeezed orange juice.
Noon to 2 p.m., pig roast: “Carolina Tom” Doyle of the Hickory Rib restaurant in Salem will be slow roasting a 100-pound hog for this luncheon. The market will sell pulled-pork sandwiches with all the fixings for just $1.
Noon to 4 p.m., free samples: Sample foods from Ohio specialty food makers in a “Meet the Tastemakers” event featuring River Ridge Honey, Valley City; Richard’s Maple Syrup, Chardon; Nana’s Pasta Sauces, Cleveland; Herbert’s Chow Chow, Akron; Lyon’s Market jams, Garrettsville; Betsy’s Brittle, Doylestown; Clearbrook Farms tarts, Sharonville; Honadles Chocolates, Hartville; Hoppin’ Frog Brewery, Akron; Rossi Pasta, Marietta; Steverenos Peppers, Rootstown.
