Holden Arboretum in Kirtland will teach how to use forest land for growing crops during a two-day forest farming workshop next weekend.
Workshop leaders Ken Mudge and Robert Beyfuss of Cornell University will address growing foods, medicinal crops and ornamental plants beneath the canopy of an existing forest. The workshop will include classroom presentations and interactive outdoor demonstrations.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 20-21. Cost is $125 for both days or $75 for one day.
The event will be in the Reinberger Classroom of the arboretum’s visitors center, 9500 Sperry Road.
