There’s more at stake than getting in shape at these line dance classes. At the conclusion of each session, a finale is held. The community is encouraged to visit and watch who struts off with the big prizes. (Well, maybe “big” is the wrong description, but there are some cool gifts that go to all winners. And the program is purposely designed to have no losers.)
Somewhere past the mid-point of the session, the group is divided into three teams. Prizes are given away for categories like best dance, best name and most flamboyant.
The Valentine’s Day-themed finale for the current session is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Lawton Community Center, 1225 Lawton St., Akron.
It’s a great opportunity to see what the program is all about and consider whether you want to participate in the next session.
