Happy Halloween - it's a favorite time of year for all ages. Now is the time for ghostly tales, some scary - and some maybe not so scary. Here we have compiled just a few of the Halloween happenings around Ohio.
For younger children, magic fills the air at The Wilderness Center in Stark County during the Enchanted Forest, where they will have a fun, not scary time on October 9 and 10. Visitors are escorted around the trail by volunteers called Fireflies who light the way with lanterns, and introduce guests to the creatures who inhabit the forest. After the walk guests are served refreshments in the Interpretive Building. The fee is $6 for members, $8 for nonmembers, and free for ages 3 and younger. Cemeteries can be scary places but they also contain a wealth of historical information. Meet historical figures from the past during a lantern tour of the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio. Tours take place October 16-24, on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at this important Ohio landmark. In Clinton County, Ohio, you can have dinner with a ghost. Snow Hill features Dinner & a Ghost on Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24, and Friday, October 30. Guests will dine, tour and hunt for ghosts with a camera in one hand and a recorder in the other. Looking for more excitement in Wilmington, then take the Haunted Hollow Ride in an open bus through the haunted woods, while being chased by monsters, madness and mayhem.
