Special Cats and Kittens Adoption — Pawsibilities, Humane Society of Greater Akron has more than 70 adult cats and a dozen kittens available for adoption. All cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, de-fleaed/de-wormed, micro-chipped and include a 30-day free trial of pet insurance through ShelterCare. Kittens under 6 months are $30, cats 6 months to 6 years are $20 and cats over 6 years are $10. Also, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, adoption fee for dogs over 6 months will be $44 and cats over 6 months will be $4 with an approved application. Pawsibilities is at 7996 Darrow Road in Twinsburg. Save Ohio Strays (SOS) Dog Days of August — Group is offering a reduced adoption fee for August for dogs more than 5 years old. The $50 special rate includes spaying or neutering the animals and up-to-date vaccinations, worming and heartworm prevention. Many have also received special care like X-rays, dental cleaning/exams and blood work. Interested families and individuals can visit the website, www.saveohiostrays.org, to see all available dogs.

Grand Reopening of the Akron Dog Park — 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at 499 Memorial Parkway, Akron. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, hot dogs, chips, desserts and beverages will be available for a donation to Better Akron Recreation for Canines (BARC). All proceeds will go to BARC for renovations and ongoing maintenance of the park.

Paws on the Patio for the Dog Days of Summer — 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Tavern of Richfield, 3960 Broadview Road, Richfield. Lunch menu available along with full bar service, treats and goodies for dogs. Prizes for best-dressed dog. Space is limited, call 330-659-0610 for reservations.

Dog Paddle & Pet-A-Palooza — 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Ledge Pool and Recreation Area, Hinckley Reservation, 1151 Ledge Road. Activities will include swimming with your dog, obstacle courses, dog groomers, pet stores and pet therapy. Also there will be adoptable animals on site. Admission is $5 per dog. Kitten Krazy/Quick Fix and Medina County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Garage Sale — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Sept. 1 at the SPCA, 245 S. Medina St., Medina.
