An appreciation banquet and fundraiser for the Rev. Benny Williams and his wife, Willa, is at 6 p.m. next Saturday at the Akron Urban League, 440 Vernon Odom Blvd.
Williams, founder and pastor at New Millennium Baptist Church, has been battling prostate cancer for three years. The church is located at 906 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron.
The banquet will feature the Rev. Clifton Norwood of Akron’s St. Paul Baptist Church. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased by calling 330-958-0764.
A special worship service is at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 20 at New Millennium. Guest speaker for the service will be Bishop Kevin Strickland of the Church on the Hill.
