Pour for a Cure — 7:30 p.m. to close at Hudson’s Restaurant & Catering, 80 N. Main St. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, three Hudson-based Keller Williams Chervenic Realtors, Patricia Kurtz, Janie See and Debbie Miller, will be guest bartenders to raise money for the University Hospital Seidman Cancer Center. 2nd Annual Dancing for the Kids — 7:30 p.m. at the Akron Civic Theatre, 182 S. Main St. The event will feature 10 local personalities and their dance partners from the University of Akron, who will put on their dancing shoes to help raise money for the Showers Family Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Akron Children’s Hospital. Summa Western Reserve Hospital 10th Annual Halloween Charity Ball — 8 p.m. to midnight at the Tangier, 532 W. Market St., Akron. Disc jockey, open bar, costume contest with best girl, best guy and best group/couple prizes. Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. There is a $100 VIP ticket that includes free valet parking, premium liquor and food, private bartender, private table side service and private room. 2013 Ivy & Ice Affair: Champagne and Candles — 8 p.m. at St. Thomas Banquet Hall, 555 N. Cleveland-Massillon Road, Akron. Hosted by the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity (Eta Tau Lambda Chapter) and the sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (Zeta Theta Omega Chapter) in Akron. A portion of the semiformal black attire event will benefit prostate cancer and pediatric cancer research. Tickets are $35. Award winners: Dorothea Barlowe, outstanding visual artist; Kurt Reed, outstanding artist in music; Jacqueline Tinnemeyer, rising young star/leadership; Joan Colbert, arts volunteer; Gayle and David Noble, arts patron; Docs Who Rock, collaborative arts project; Andrea Shearer, arts educator; Akron Symphony Orchestra and GroundWorks DanceTheater, arts outreach; and Mitchell Kahan, lifetime achievement. Seeking Donations

Blanket Donations — The office of Edward Jones at 4902 Erie Ave. SW, Navarre, will be collecting new or used clean blankets, comforters, bedspreads, sleeping bags (anything to give warmth to a homeless person). Drop-off is available through Dec. 16. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, with a lunch closure from noon to 1 p.m. daily.
