In 1918, Akron developers envisioned the Hippodrome Arcade as an elegant concourse with 30 stores and offices, and a luxurious movie palace with seating for more than 3,000 patrons.
A 1919 advertisement depicts the front of the Hippodrome Arcade under construction on South Main Street in Akron. If the facade looks familiar, it's because a slightly modified building still stands.
