Here's a chance to make more than a fashion statement.
The American Heart Association is asking all women to join forces Friday and celebrate the Go Red for Women campaign by wearing red.
To further underscore the campaign, three buildings in Cuyahoga Falls will be bathed in red light that evening: Valley Savings, Sheraton Suites and M C Hair Consultants.
This is part of a nationwide movement to heighten awareness of the high incidence of heart disease in women. One in three women will have some form of cardiovascular disease in her lifetime.
''Learn how to love your heart by preventing heart disease,'' the American Heart Association says. ''More than 10,000 companies throughout the country participate in Wear Red Day, and many cities across the nation illuminate monuments, landmarks and major buildings in red to show their support in the fight against heart disease.''
To learn more, to save more, please visit http://www.GoRed ForWomen.org and take the Go Red Heart Check Up.
By the way, the national movement is sponsored by Macy's and Merck & Co. Inc.

Can you use a little help with projects around the house?
Then the Akron Area YMCA's Friday @ 5 Event may just be the ticket for you.
At the silent/oral auction from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Portage Country Club, the Welty Building Corp. is offering a carpenter for a day, who will report to the winning bidder's home and help finish those difficult projects.
Lots of other valuable prizes are on the menu: two African safari and Hilton Head condominium vacations, a lift chair, gift certificates to the Diamond Deli, a night at the Sheraton Suites, an autographed Cleveland Browns football and more.
The event, which includes a grazing dinner and dessert buffet, costs $55. For information, please call 330-434-9622.
Proceeds will enable the Y to provide memberships and programs for children and their families regardless of their ability to pay.
