Gun-shaped bottle used in robbery try, police say

A man carrying a gun-shaped bottle of cologne was subdued and charged with trying to rob Highland Square Video.
Michael Kaminski, 41, of West Market Street, is charged with aggravated robbery and carrying a concealed weapon. Kaminski also was carrying a knife, police said.
The Akron police spokesman, Lt. Rick Edwards, said a video store employee was outside
smoking a cigarette and talking to an employee of Primo Tanning at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.
A man approached wearing a black-hooded sweat shirt and scarf covering his face, police were told. Acting as if he carried a gun in his pocket, the man ordered the two others to go inside the store.
The video store employee said that when he turned to enter the store, the tanning store employee tackled the assailant from behind. The gun-shaped bottle of cologne the assailant was carrying broke, spilling Stetson cologne on the assailant.
Gold paint covering the bottom of the handle of the cologne bottle had been covered over with black marker, Edwards said.
The workers held the man until police arrived.
It's the third time the store has been targeted in the past four weeks, Edwards said.
