Carriage Trail hike 9 a.m. Meet at the Red Lock Trailhead off West Highland Road in Sagamore Hills Township. The Portage Trail Walkers hiking club will meet for a hike on the Old Carriage Trail in the Cuyahoga Valley. An alternate hike on the Towpath Trail will also be available. 330-673-6896.

Sustainable Energy Festival 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fairless Middle School, 11885 Navarre Road S.W. outside Navarre. The Wilderness Center and Green Energy of Ohio are co-sponsoring the Sustainable Energy Festival. Topics are energy efficiency, geothermal, solar electric, wind energy, bio mass and solar thermal. There will be speakers throughout the day and exhibits. The keynote address on Ohio's energy debate will be at 12:30 p.m. by Janine L. Migden-Ostrander, Ohio consumers' counsel. Free. There will also be three-hour workshops on wind, solar, green building design and landfill gas-to-energy. The fee is $50 per workshop. Registration is required for the workshops.
