Friday

Hudson — Masonic Lodge No. 510, 49 E. Streetsboro Road (state Route 303), will host a 7 p.m. presentation on the Battle of Midway with World War II veteran and lodge member Gordon Simon. Veterans from all services will be honored. Call for reservations at 330-688-7061. Voluntary donation is $5 for adults and $3 for children over 12. Proceeds will go to a scholarship fund. Veterans are admitted free.


Saturday

Aurora — At Aurora Farms Premium Outlets on state Route 43, there will be patriotic musical entertainment with Progressive Field Band from noon to 2 p.m. at the main entertainment gazebo.

Hartville — At 10 a.m., a procession with color guard of Boy Scouts will form in the municipal parking lot on Sunnyside Street behind Village Hall and proceed to Memorial Park on Lincoln Street near the elementary school complex for a ceremony.


Sunday

Akron — A 1:15 p.m. military observance ceremony at Glendale Cemetery, 150 Glendale Ave., sponsored by Summit County Veterans Council. It will include a guided tour of 150-year-old Civil War Chapel.

Ravenna Township — A 2 p.m. service at Grandview Memorial Park in the Memorial Court of Liberty. The Ravenna Community Choir will perform. Guest speaker is Ravenna Mayor Kevin Poland. Those attending are urged to bring lawn chairs. The cemetery is on Lakewood Road opposite Lake Hodgson, one mile east of Kent State University Stadium.

Rittman — A 3 p.m. service at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, with rifle salute, wreath-laying ceremony and musical selections. Spectators should bring lawn chairs and umbrellas.

Streetsboro — A parade will form at Kmart on state Route 14 at noon and step off at 1 p.m., marching to the Streetsboro High School parking lot on Annalane Drive.


Sunday and Monday

Cuyahoga Falls — Weather permitting, there will be 480 full-size flags flying over Northlawn Cemetery, 4724 State Road. The flags, presented by the U.S. government to the families of veterans, will be flown in memory of veterans buried in Northlawn. VFW Post No. 3294 will place more than 2,200 small flags on the graves. A service will be at 1 p.m. Monday.


Monday

Akron — A service will be held at 9 a.m. at VFW Post 3383, 690 W. Waterloo Road, at the picnic pavilion behind the post.

Alliance — A parade will start at 10 a.m. and march from Linden Avenue and East Main Street to Alliance City Cemetery on West Vine Street for an 11 a.m. ceremony.

Aurora — A parade at 10:15 a.m. will march from the Cinemark Theater on state Route 82, east to state Route 306, south to state Route 43, north to Aurora Cemetery for services.

Barberton — A service at 10 a.m. will be held at Lake Anna Park at the Military Honor Roll. Speaker is retired Maj. Ed Lunda representing Tuskegee Airmen Inc.

Bath Township — A service will be held at noon at the Veterans War Memorial at West Bath and North Cleveland-Massillon roads.

Boston Heights — A parade at 8:30 a.m. will march from the fire station to Fairview Park Cemetery on Boston Mills Road.

Brimfield Township — Brimfield Lions Club will sponsor a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at Faith United Methodist Church on Tallmadge Road in conjunction with the church men's group. At 10 a.m., there will be a ceremony at Restland Cemetery on state Route 43.

Brunswick — A ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at Visintainer Middle School grounds, 1459 Pearl Road, with a parade to Westview Cemetery immediately following, ending with an 11 a.m. service.

 

Canal Fulton — A parade will start at 1 p.m. at Lindsey Concrete, 6845 Erie Ave. N., march north on Canal Street to Market Street and end at City Hall with a short ceremony, including a rifle squadron and the Northwest High School band.

Canton — At 10 a.m., a parade will march from Tuscarawas Street East and Walnut Avenue Northeast and head west on Tuscarawas to Elgin Avenue Northwest. It will turn north on Elgin and finish at Monument Park for a ceremony at the McKinley Memorial. A 5K race will also take place on the same route starting at 8 a.m.

Clinton — A pancake and ham breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the fire station, 7832 Main St. Adults, $4.50; children, $2.50. A parade will line up at 10:30 a.m. across from Hillside Park on West Comet Road and step off at 11 a.m., winding down Comet Avenue and through the center of town, ending at the Clinton Cemetery on Erie Avenue for a service at 11:30 a.m. There will be free tours of the pre-Civil War Rhoads-Harter House from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Proceeds of a raffle will go to the Historical Society.

Copley Township — A parade will step off at 10 a.m. at Copley-Fairlawn Middle School, 1531 S. Cleveland-Massillon Road, and march to Copley Veteran Cemetery, 3788 Copley Road, for a service.

Creston — A parade will start at 11 a.m. at Creston Middle School, 161 S. Main St. It will proceed to Maple Mound Cemetery off Erie Street for a ceremony.

Cuyahoga Falls — A parade will start at 9 a.m. at State Road Plaza, Portage Trail and State Road, travel east on Portage Trail and north on Fourth Street to Oakwood Drive for an 11 a.m. ceremony at Oakwood Cemetery. A C-130 flyover is scheduled. Guest speaker is Richard S. Stoltz, who received a purple heart during the Vietnam conflict.

Doylestown — Starting at 9 a.m., the Chippewa High School band and area veterans and military groups will march to area cemeteries in the village starting at 9 a.m. on Clinton Street and finishing at 11 a.m. at the Doughboy statue. That will be followed by lunch for marchers and members of the community at American Legion Post 407 on Black Drive.

Fairlawn — A service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Monument in Bicentennial Park across from City Hall, 3482 S. Smith Road.

Garrettsville — A parade will start at 9 a.m. at Baptist Cemetery on Maple Avenue and end at Park Cemetery on Center Street for a 10 a.m. service.

Granger Township — A parade will start at 9 a.m. at Highland Middle School, 3880 Ridge Road and march to Fairview Cemetery on Wilbur Road for a service. There will be open houses at the fire station and the Granger Historical Society.

Green — A parade will start 10:30 a.m. at Green High School, 1474 Boettler Road, march east on Boettler, south on Massillon Road, west on Steese Road to Green Intermediate School parking lot. After the parade, there will be a ceremony at the John Torok Community Center, 4224 Massillon Road. A classic car show will follow. Picnic food will be provided.

Hinckley Township — A parade will start at 9 a.m. and march from Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 1088 Ridge Road, to the town hall and Brongers Park at Ridge Road and state Route 303, where a ceremony will follow. Veterans in attendance will be honored. Citizen of the Year award winner Laverne Pay will also be honored.

Hiram — A parade will start at 11:30 a.m. at the post office on Hayden Street and proceed to Fairview Cemetery on state Route 82 for a service.

Hudson — A parade will start forming at 9:15 a.m. on Milford Drive, step off at 11 a.m. and proceed to St. Mary's Markillie Cemetery for services at 12:15 p.m.

Kent — A parade will line up at 9 a.m. at East Main and Depeyster streets and proceed at 10 a.m. to the Main Street bridge for a short service and gun salute. Parade will then march to Standing Rock Cemetery on Mantua Street for a ceremony. Any organization that wishes to participate in the parade should contact the Kent American Legion Post at 330-673-9743.

Lakemore — A parade will form at noon at Springfield High School, 2966 Sanitarium Road, and start at 1 p.m., marching to the triangle at Park and Lake roads for a service.

Lodi — A parade at 9 a.m. at American Legion Post 523, 120 Bank St., will march through the center of town to Woodlawn Cemetery flag area for a service.

Louisville — There will be a service at 10 a.m. at City Hall, 215 S. Mill St.

Mantua Township — At 11 a.m., a parade will start at Old Village School, marching to Village Cemetery. The parade will then continue from the Civic Center and end at West Lawn Cemetery.

Mantua Village — At 9:30 a.m., parade will march from the former Main Street Elementary, ending at Mantua Village Cemetery.

Massillon — Services will be held at Veterans Memorial Park at 8:30 a.m. Parade will start at 9:30 a.m. at Lincoln Way East and First Street Southeast, march west to Erie Street South and end at Massillon Cemetery for services at approximately 10:45 a.m.

Medina — A parade will form at 10 a.m. at Medina County Courthouse on the square, and head to Spring Grove Cemetery for a ceremony at 11 a.m.

Mogadore — A parade will line up at 9:30 a.m., stepping off at 10 a.m. at James Street and South Cleveland Avenue, marching north on state Route 532 to Mogadore Road, then west to Greenwood Cemetery for a 10:30 a.m. ceremony. Guest speaker is VFW State Commander Roger Frye. Mogadore Christian Church, 106 S. Cleveland Ave., will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon. Cost is $5, $3 for age 12 and under.

Navarre — Parade will start at 1 p.m. at Ohio Street, ending at East Union Lawn Cemetery.



New Franklin — A parade will form at 9 a.m. at Grace Bible Church, 5781 Manchester Road, marching at 10 a.m. to Manchester Cemetery, 1030 W. Nimisila Road, for services.

North Canton — A parade will form at North Stadium parking lot on Seventh Street at 8:30 a.m. and start at 9 a.m., proceed south on Main Street to Bitzer Park, where a ceremony will follow.

Northfield Center Township — A parade will assemble at 9 a.m. at St. Barnabas Church, 9451 Brandywine Road. It will step off at 10 a.m., heading north on Olde Eight Road to the Northfield-Macedonia Cemetery for an 11 a.m. service.

Norton — A ceremony conducted by Loyal Oak VFW Post 4466 will start at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Park on the northeast corner of Greenwich and Cleveland-Massillon roads.

Orrville — A parade will start at 9:15 a.m. at Orrville Public Library, 315 N. Main St., march west to Main Street, south to Market Street, west on Market to Crown Hill Road, and north to Crown Hill Cemetery for a service.

Peninsula — A parade will begin at Boston Township Hall, 1775 Main St., at 11 a.m. and march to Cedar Grove Cemetery for a service. Another ceremony will follow at Boston Cemetery on Main Street in Boston Township.

Ravenna — A parade will line up at 9 a.m. at Ravenna High School, stepping off at 10 a.m. It will proceed west on Main Street to Chestnut Street, ending with a service at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Rittman — A parade will start at 10:30 a.m. at Main and Erie streets, proceed to Sunset Street and Main Street. A ceremony will follow at Rittman Cemetery.

Seville — A service will start at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 22 E. Main St. A parade will then line up behind Seville Elementary School, 24 E. Main St., head west on Market Street, north on Milton Street and east on Main Street to Mount Hill Cemetery.

Shreve — A parade will start at 9:30 a.m. and march from Shreve Elementary School, 598 N. Market St. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Smithville — A parade will start at 8:30 a.m. in front of Smithville Elementary School on North Milton Street and head up state Route 585 to the Smithville High School field house for services at 9 a.m.

Spencer — Parade will start at 9 a.m. at the Old School on Washington Street, march west down Main Street, then east to Spencer Cemetery for a service.

Suffield Township — Parade units will line up at 1 p.m., step off at 2 p.m. at Congress Lake Road and Old Waterloo Road, march through downtown and cross state Route 43 to Suffield Elementary School. Food and refreshments will be available downtown from noon to 2 p.m. Local Boy Scouts will sponsor a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at the town hall.

Tallmadge — Parade will start at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church on North Avenue, march to Tallmadge Cemetery for a ceremony. The Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a pancake breakfast at the Community Center starting at 8 a.m. The Tallmadge Historical Society invites the public to visit the Old Town Hall and museum on the Circle and Schenkengerger House at 35 Southwest Ave. from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no admission charge.

Twinsburg — Parade will line up at 9:30 a.m. and begin at 10:30 a.m. at Twinsburg High School, 10084 Ravenna Road. It will include a military flyby and end with a service at the Veterans Monument on the square at 11 a.m.

Valley City — A parade will form at 10:30 a.m., step off at 11 a.m. from Liverpool Community Center on West River Road, march along Center Road (state Route 303) to the VFW parking lot. A program will be at VFW Post with lunch served afterward.

Wadsworth — A parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the square on Main Street, march around the square and west on College Street to St. Mark's Church for the tolling of the bell. It will then proceed west to Beck Street and north to Woodlawn Cemetery to the monument of the Unknown Soldier for a service. In case of rain, ceremony will be in Central Junior High School auditorium at 11 a.m.

Westfield Center — A parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Smucker Drive, head south on North Leroy Road and around Westfield Center Circle, then proceed west on Greenwich Road to Westfield Center Cemetery for a service.

Windham — At noon, a parade will step off at South Main and Bauer Avenue and end at Windham Township Cemetery with a service.

Wooster — A parade will step off from the fairgrounds at 9 a.m. and head east on West Liberty Street to the Public Square, then south on Market Street to Madison Hill and the overpass bridge. Services follow at Wooster Cemetery.
