Plain Local vehicle collides with truck on Harrisburg Road. Six children treated at hospitals

PLAIN TWP.: Students from Glenwood Middle School were taken to Aultman Hospital after a bus from Plain Local Schools collided with a truck Tuesday afternoon.
''Five students have requested to go to the hospital as a precaution, but we do not believe there are any serious injuries,'' Plain Local Schools spokeswoman Karen Vrabec said.
All but one of the five students had been released from the Canton hospital by 5:30 p.m. One remained for some precautionary X-rays, Vrabec said.
The bus carried 30 students, plus a driver and an adult certified aide.
Sgt. Terry Curry of the Stark County Sheriff's Office also said there were no serious injuries in the crash.
''All of the [students'] injuries appear to be minor,'' Curry said. ''The driver of the truck and a passenger were not injured.''
The bus was southbound on Harrisburg Road just south of state Route 62 at about 3:30 p.m. The truck with an empty flatbed owned by TFG (Two Fat Guys) LLC was exiting state Route 62 onto Harrisburg.
In the accident, the truck sustained damage to its left front, and the lights were knocked out. The bus had minor damage and was towed from the scene by DeSantis Auto and Truck Service.
The accident was under investigation, Curry said, and no
citations had been issued. Students not transported to the hospital were picked up by family members.
One parent, Joy Rickus, said she was taking her son, a seventh-grader at Glenwood, to the emergency room at Mercy Medical Center to be checked for neck and facial injuries.
She vowed that her son would not be riding the bus again.
Vrabec said the same bus driver, Susan Armour, 53, of Canton, and student passengers were involved in a fatal accident April 29 on the same bus route at state Route 62 and Roosevelt Avenue.
A car driven by Janet D. Lopez, 41, of East Canton, pulled into the path of the bus. Lopez was extracted from the wreckage and died at Mercy Medical Center.
A dozen students were taken to two hospitals in that accident, but none was seriously injured.
