The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Western Reserve have teamed up with Northern Ohio Dodge dealers and the Cleveland Indians to raffle off a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 at the Sept. 5 Indians game. Local animal shelters have received contributions from the Acme Fresh Market's 2007 Wishing Well program founded by the Fred W. Albrecht Family Foundation. Receiving checks were the Humane Society of Greater Akron, $9,492.34; the Stark County Humane Society, $1,241.17; and the Portage Animal Protective League, $993.39, for a grand total of $11,726.90.
Plan Ahead
The American Cancer Society will host the Pan Ohio Hope Ride, a noncompetitive 300-mile Cleveland to Cincinnati cycling tour, Aug. 7-10. The event will raise money and awareness for the Society's Hope Lodges in Ohio and support programs for cancer patients.
