Motorcyclist dies in Peninsula crash

By Beacon Journal staff report

Peninsula police are investigating a fatal accident on Riverview Road this morning.

Gary Guenther, an investigator for the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office, said a bicycle rider came upon the scene of a motorcycle crash at 6:55 a.m. in front of Heritage Farms at 6050 Riverview.

The victim of the crash, a 36-year-old Northfield man, was riding a Harley-Davidson. Guenther said it appeared the motorcycle was headed north when it went off the west side of Riverview and struck a 400- to 500-pound rock.

The Summit County crash team has been called to help investigate the accident, Guenther said.

The name of the victim is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
