HUDSON SCHOOLS
Bus woes persisting
as classes resume
HUDSON: Classes in the Hudson school district resumed Thursday but busing problems were expected to continue.
Classes were canceled Wednesday because of computer glitches.
Officials said Thursday that delays ''and complications'' are anticipated because busing contractor First Student did not provide bus pickup and drop-off information for all students as promised.
Hudson officials said Thursday that parents should have their children at the same bus stop — at the same time — as they did on Tuesday.
Officials told students Thursday what bus they will use to get home. Students in kindergarten through third grade received labels showing their bus number.
Phone lines were added at the First Student bus facility. That phone number is 330-653-1202. The district pays the company $2.3 million a year. About 3,600 of its 5,100 students ride a bus.

STARK COUNTY
Creating township
to boost city income
CANAL FULTON: Canal Fulton can expect an increase in property tax revenue as the result of the creation of a separate township that will be largely identical in shape to the city in northwestern Stark County.
County commissioners created Milan Township on Thursday at the request of Canal Fulton officials.
As a result, the city will receive some real-estate taxes that previously went to Lawrence Township. The city will gain about $55,000 a year, according to Finance Director Scott Svab.
The new township, which will exist only on paper as a legal entity, does not include recent annexations to the city, which required the land to remain in Lawrence Township.
