U.S. 62 reopens
after truck accident
PLAIN TWP.: A tractor-trailer carrying a 39,420-pound aluminum coil rolled over Saturday afternoon and caused both directions of U.S. 62 to be closed from state Route 43 to Middlebranch Road for six hours. A spokesman from the Canton post of the State Highway Patrol said the truck was headed east from Cleveland to Warren and rolled over near Rowland Avenue Northeast about 2:30 p.m. No other vehicles were involved. The driver was removed from his cab by Plain Township Fire Department paramedics, treated at Mercy Medical Center and released. His name was not available, but his truck was registered to Jaro Transportation Services of Warren.
Fire departments
to receive grants
The Barberton and Cuyahoga Falls fire departments will receive grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown announced Thursday. ''These funds ensure that the firefighters . . . have the resources they need to perform their jobs safely,'' Brown said. The Barberton department will get $59,850, while the Falls department will receive $43,440. Barberton plans to spend the money on a diesel exhaust system that can be used on firetrucks, he said.
Shredding service offered Saturday
