Couple die in crash
HARRISVILLE TWP.: A Medina couple were killed in a two-car accident Friday evening.
The Medina post of the State Highway Patrol said that Lawrence E. Erb, 84, and Betty Erb, 79, were on Harris Road in a Pontiac minivan about 7:20 p.m. and stopped in the middle of the intersection of U.S. 224. They continued across U.S. 224 when a Dodge Charger, driven by 19-year-old Ferenc Schmidt of Akron and allegedly traveling at a high speed, struck the van, rolling it over an embankment.
Both the Erbs were taken to Lodi Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Patrick Dario, 24, of Akron, a passenger in the Charger, was in serious condition at Akron General Medical Center on Saturday. Schmidt and passenger Michael Wiggins, 25, of Copley Township, suffered minor injuries. A fourth passenger, Anthony Wilmont, 18, of Copley, was not injured.
