Half-dozen agencies access records of Ohio man
By Dennis J. Willard
Beacon Journal staff writer
Published on Friday, Nov 14, 2008
The election is over, but the Joe the Plumber case is not.
Ohio Inspector General Tom Charles said his office is now looking at a half-dozen agencies that accessed state records on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher.
The Beacon Journal has learned that, in addition to the Department of Job and Family Services, two other state offices — the Ohio Department of Taxation and Ohio Attorney General Nancy Rogers — conducted database searches of Joe the Plumber.
Wurzelbacher became an instant celebrity after he asked Barack Obama a series of questions in his Toledo driveway about the Democrat's tax policies.
In the third debate between Obama and Republican John McCain on Oct. 15, the candidates referred to Joe the Plumber more than 20 times.
The next day, the taxation department conducted two separate searches of a database of liens for unpaid taxes that were certified to the Ohio Attorney General's Office for collection.
John Kohlstrand, a taxation department spokesman, said he is prohibited from talking about individual taxpayers, but he confirmed that the databases were checked.
The searches were done to determine whether a lien placed against the individual was appropriate and whether it remained unpaid or not, Kohlstrand said.
The department's first search of the day was unsuccessful because of incorrect information about the individual, Kohlstrand said. Ohio Attorney General Nancy Rogers' office then contacted taxation because it was having difficulty accessing the database, Kohlstrand said. After the two agencies talked, taxation completed a successful search.
Kohlstrand said that the AG's office wanted access to the records so they could turn over to the national media lien information that was a public record in Lucas County. He said the national media did not have reporters in Toledo, so the attorney general's office was helping them out with public records.
On the day following the two searches, the taxation department conducted a search of another in-house database that tracks cases and correspondence between taxpayers and the department before the liens being certified and turned over to the attorney general for collection.
Rick Anthony, deputy tax commissioner, said there are times when a payment can be in the pipeline so a lien appears unpaid when in fact the taxpayer or business has repaid the state.
Anthony said the database searches on both days were conducted to ensure that the information in Lucas County was being properly reported by the media.
''Wouldn't that have been a disaster if the lien had been paid,'' Kohlstrand said. ''The responsible thing for us to do would be to take prompt steps to make it right.''
''We are not aware of any inappropriate browsing of information by anyone in our department pertaining to Mr. Wurzelbacher,'' Kohlstrand said.
Jim Gravelle, a spokesman for Attorney General Rogers, said he could not comment on individual records because of privacy issues. He said he would not confirm or deny that the AG's office went to taxation or whether his office had been queried by the inspector general.
The day after the debate, media outlets began reporting that Joe the Plumber's real name was Samuel, he was not a licensed plumber and he owed close to $1,200 in back taxes and additional money to a hospital.
His home was besieged by media outlets, including television crews that camped on his lawn.
Wurzelbacher had questioned Obama's plan to raise taxes for anyone with an income exceeding $250,000 because he planned to purchase his own plumbing business.
His current income made him eligible for a tax break under Obama's plan.
Wurzelbacher later endorsed McCain at a campaign stop in Ohio and hired the Pathfinder Management group in Nashville to manage his career.
Kohlstrand would not comment on an investigation by the inspector general, but Charles confirmed Thursday that he is looking into the taxation department to determine whether their searches were appropriate.
Charles said he does not know at this point if anyone in any of the agencies did anything wrong.
The inspector general began investigating after news reports surfaced that Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, ordered her agency to conduct background checks on Joe the Plumber.
Jones-Kelley maintains that her agency routinely checks on people who are thrust into the spotlight to determine whether they have unpaid child support bills, are receiving public support from her department or owe unemployment taxes.
After the election, Gov. Ted Strickland placed Jones-Kelley on paid leave. The governor said the suspension was for a matter unrelated to the background checks on Joe the Plumber.

Joe the plumber is a nobody. Typically, the liberal demoncritters in Columbus checked on him for political the political dirt they could use.
The media isn't much better.
I don't think any goverment agency should be checking on anyone and giving the information to the news media. The news media has taken over this country to the point that they on infringing on every one's rights. They should just report the news as it happens, not like they want it to be or try to make it bigger then it is. It is getting you can't believe any think you read in the paper any more.
This guy was a a farce anyway. Just another person who hasn't paid his taxes. And a liar to boot.
People ,all this guy did was ask " the chosen one " a question, and look at how many agencies were out to dig up dirt on him. This kind of stuff shouldn't be going on if we truely believe we live in a free society .I'll bet any one of you would not want your whole past dug up and then handed over to some media outlet for the whole world to see just because you dared to stand up and ask a question .
Keep on slandering a Man who asked a simple question...to which the Messiah accidentally gave the true answer.
As I read tyhe article...it looks like a lot of government employess participated in a witch hunt WITH NO EVIDENCE OF WRONG DOING....just political curiosity.
Off with their heads
ed
All he did was ask a simple question the made BO look bad and expose him for the socialist he is. What's next, imprison or execute anyone who disagrees with the new leader? That's what the Nazi's did.
Are the people who are mad about the intrusiveness of the Patriot Act and the Telcom breech of privacy just as mad that Joe “The Plumber” had his privacy violated? Or are they just like the “Conservatives” who lambaste big government until they’re in charge and then expand it to meet their own needs.
Just because I think the guy is an idiot doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have his privacy protected under penalty of law. If they can go after him for having his views, they can come after you.
Tim and Edward: Joe the Plumber is a fraud. His intent was to try to embarrass Obama. He lied about the income the business would make, he wasn't going to or couldn't buy the business, and he wasn't even a licensed plumber. Funny how he ended up as a celebrity on the McCain campaign trail. Seems like he wanted celebrity and I guess he's getting notoriety instead.
Joseph misses the point. JTP's life has nothing to do with it. The POINT is, that he is being persecuted by the liberal media because he made BO look bad and BO exposed his true intentions. His objective was to promise the moon, knowing darn well that he has absolutely no intention of keeping any of his promises. Usually most candidates don't admit this at their own victory speech. I'm glad I didn't vote the Pelosi/Reid/Obamination ticket.
Hey Joseph,
Why don't you tell us your last name so I can have some people do checks on you because you had the audacity to express an opinion (even though it was ill informed and hardly well thought out). These agencies had no business performing any checks on Joe the Plumber. The excuses given by the agencies are pathetic. Why would they be doing the media's job for them. Even if the media got the wrong information then Joe could have corrected them. The only plausible reason is that there were sympathetic employees to Obama who wanted to assist him in embarassing Joe. Joseph, the man was in his front yard playing football with his child when Obama approached him. I'm sure to you that is someone with intent on embarassing someone. Please, I only hope these third world tactics end. They should make an example out of these people.
JTP was a fraud and a liar. Like many americans he parlayed his brief encounter into a career. I hear he's going to have his own show.
Most of you that are upset over this are only complaining because you are either McCain/Palin/JTP suppororters, or because you dislike Obama.
JTP was not going to buy the business. And if he did his income (not sales revenue of the company) would not have been over $250,000. Even if he would buy the business, and make over $250,000 in income, with that kind of pay he could hire a financial consultant to help him shelter the income/revenue in ways to avoid the taxes.
WAAAHHHH, the liberal media is persecuting JTP. Please, the media and the McCain campaign turned the guy into a celebrity.
He got what he wanted..his two minutes of fame...and whatever comes with that, does just that.
Steve, you're another one who can't grasp simple concepts. Plain and simple, you make BO look bad or disagree with him, you will be persecuted by the media You do NOT so much as question BO's policy, which you and everyone else has no idea what it is. BO is beyond approach and not accountable to anyone, no checks or balances here. After he is elected and you say anything against him, you will be arrested by the SS, I mean his civilian police force and sent to Aschwitz.
"People ,all this guy did was ask " the chosen one "
Not quite, but good try. He CAMPAIGNED for both candidates. Palin and mcsame USED his name THOUSANDS of times to promote themselves over Obama. Didn't work !
Obviously Steve and Joseph can't read ,the point of the story is this : state agencies are using taxpayer money to do searches for the media to benefit a particular candidate. Let the stupid media do their own homework with their time and money ,not mine. I Don't Care who you voted for Steve ,I'm just tired of all the antic's these politicians pull using my money !
Steve,
I'll type real slow so you can understand. Most, if not all of the searches, were done prior to JTP campaigning for McCain. Even if they were done after he began to campaign for him, state resources should not have been utilized by political hacks to smear the guy. The media has proven that they are perfectly capable of smearing someone on their own. That is why they sent hoards of reporters to Alaska to dig up dirt on Palin, but failed to do any investigation into Wiliam Ayers, Tony Rezko, etc.. It doesn't mater who won the campaign or whether it would have had an impact. McCain never stood a chance of winning because he was a Republican and not even a very appealling one. What is concerning is that the operatives of a candidate who promised to be a new type of politician have used some fairly old faishoned Chicago style (actually more Saul Alinsky) tactics on a private citizen. All citizens should be appalled at that. As the old German adage goes, when the Nazi's came for the Jews I did nothing, when...
Ada, Craig, Tim, you are so right. Lest we think we can sleep comfortably, without a care, we need to be vigilant. Big Brother is watching, beware. These gestapo tatics are eroding our freedoms, especially the right of free speech.
This is not Venezuela yet.
I ESPECIALLY agree with Ada; the news needs to reported with no apparent bias by the media.
lol You people are morons. No wonder you all voted down gambling.
JTP was a campaign figurehead. He was the central cornerstone in the Palin/McCain camp.
If JTP wanted to ask a question and not be bothered, write a letter. Dont go plastering yourself all over national news.
JTP = Joe The Phoney
I would have to put money on Jennifer Brunner having something to do with this. She was put into office by ACORN and has done everything above and beyond her power to corrupt the 2008 election.
The apathy and total lack of regard displayed by the state government and its corresponding agencies in revealing Mr. Wurzelbacher confidential information to the media is not only absurd, but involves complicit acts of conspiracy. To allow a situation like this to fester and go unchecked is criminal; the complacent officials in charge should be shackled and jailed for gross neglect and fined for incompetence!
And to you supposed liberals who chose to shrug this off and shoulder the blame on Mr. Wurzelbacher; you are frauds and outright imposters of the worst kind. The fact of the matter is there is nothing liberal about you; you are illiberal in every sense of the word. How dare you overlook this serious invasion of privacy for partisan purposes! The blatant ignorance you display is obscene. It’s obvious that you are too stupid to care and too apathetical to do anything about it.
In the end, your self-serving, hypocritical intolerance is actually a reflection of your loss of clarity. Your attitude is not a mark of liberalism; it’s the mark of degeneration.
I'll say it again, because the 0bama kool-aid drinkers can't seem to grasp it on the third, fourth, fifth OR sixth tries.
Whatever Joe the Plumber did LATER in the campaign has nothing to do with what happened immediately after 0bama went cruising through his neighborhood. If you think that JtP was a plant at THAT point, then McCain is the biggest genius on the planet to have anticpated that Joe would get a chance to ask the question, AND that 0bama would be stupid enough to answer the way he did. (And I _KNOW_ you don't respect McCain THAT much.)
Face it, admit it, it will be good for you. However "phoney" [sic] you think JtP is, there is no getting around the fact that illegal information searches to find dirt on a private citizen will NOT build warm feelings towards 0bama. The more you defend it, the more your credibility is damaged. (And you are the people most against the Patriot Act...go figure.)

I'm glad I don't live in Ohio anymore, I'd have to quit my job and be a full time protester.
Those of you pushing this same line that JTP was a FRAUD - well - NO he is NOT. JTP speaks for MANY of us who face the decisions he describes rather eloquently. I wish he HAD been a part of the campaign from the beginning, because he really does get it, and his Q&A with Obama truly highlighted the GLARING economics difference between the left and the right.
The discussion was in HIS front yard, Obama came to HIS neighborhood, and sought questions. JTP asked a good one, and he spoke for many of us that day. The discourse was amicable, they just disagreed. Someone put it on youtube, then McCain used it over and over and over again, and the obamabots sought to destroy this man.
I was not going to vote at all this year - I had no confidence in McCain, and certainly did not want the "change" Obama has been promoting for years.
It was like the South Park election episode - a do*che or a turd sandwich....But after seeing how the left sought to personally destroy innocent bystanders (like the Palin kids, and Joe W) and then I heard threats of race riots if Obama lost, and anything you challenged him on soon became "racist" - I knew the CHANGE was going to be BAD, so I held my nose and voted McCain/Palin
Hilarious, liberals have been crying about the Patriot Act and how it invades our privacy, yet here we have Big Brother going into effect for Obama.
Speak out against the messiah? Oh no you didn't, time to research your background and see if we embarrass or prosecute you.
Just read the comments from the Democrats in this thread, and be scared, very scared. They will excuse anything their god does.
Watergate was just a small time burglary, but will anyone go after this story? Nah, the cult of Obama has begun, he and his followers can do no wrong.
This investigation is nothing new of a US citizen! People need to be aware that Ohio is not the only state being used by Government Employees to advance agendas political or otherwise. In Oregon there exists a group whose actual membership is mostly Government Employees (State, county, municipality) who have been doing investigations for years of anyone whom the "powers that be" need to get any and all information on. I understand that a person can contact this group and purchase a investigation on ANYONE!
Give credit where credit is due; to john mcCain. He is the "that one" who brought joe the plumber's name to the dinner table. Thank the BUSH ADMINISTRATION for the Obama victory. His Poor decisions put the U.S.A. in such bad shape that a call for CHANGE would be necessary. OBAMA IS THE MAN! So wipe your weeping eyes and stop crying like little babies. Unlike Bush; Obama was Actually elected by THE AMERICAN VOTERS. How's that for SOUTHPARK IRONY?
HA HA HA
You cry like a bunch of losers. grow up
Stanley, surely your comment was meant for another thread with a different topic. Here, we are talking about the illegal invasion of a citizen's private records by government employees, a private citizen who was exploited for political gain.
"So wipe your weeping eyes and stop crying like little babies."
Filing this away to throw back in your face after YOUR privacy gets invaded...
Reading these posts is really eye opening. People/Dems don't want the government to spy on terrorists, but it's okay for government employees to use their access to the records of private citizens to dig up dirt on them to help their candidate.
When people say they're afraid of an Obama administration, I guess this is what they're talking about.
So sad how bad the truth hurts
Yes, Sherry - this is EXACTLY what they are talking about. All the yammering about "freedom, liberty, justice being cast aside by Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft, et al.... when no one has been able to give any examples, with the exception of suspicious foreign born "travelers" and now we are witnessing outright violations of privacy, misuse of government data for political purposes, outright VOTER FRAUD, and a new administration which is already speaking PUBLICLY about **COMPULSORY** National Service - and it seems only the Republicans who were concerned about liberty with new national security measures are speaking out about the Obama plans for "change". To many of us, the election is much larger than one person, it is about ideology. I've read Obama's ideology. It is NOT what America is based on. We witnessed the Obama "truth squad" in action - we've seen the threatening letters, heard the prosecutors speak publicly about "putting a stop to falsehoods"
Liberals should be very scared. The policies they accept now will not only be enacted by THEIR candidate, but FUTURE presidents as well.
I think I saw Stanley in the news:
"Obama Win Causes Obsessive Supporters To Realize How Empty Their Lives Are"
http://www.theonion.com/content/video/obama_win_causes_obsessive
Isn't that Stanley in this news story? (Guy on couch)
"Obama Win Causes Obsessive Supporters To Realize How Empty Their Lives Are"
http://www.theonion.com/content/video/obama_win_causes_obsessive
"The National Media" that has a Socialist ring to it! No wonder they try to discredit anyone or anything that challenges their control over the flow of information! Why wouldn't they try to discredit him, he embarrassed them because he asked a couple of questions that they wouldn't!! Does the "National" media really deserve that much power!!! What comes next! A national Religion!!!! of their chosing!?!?
Wow - good catch, D - I didn't even notice that "National Media" comment earlier - lol
"Isn't that Stanley in this news story?"
LOL ~ Yea, I think is! :-)
"So sad how bad the truth hurts"
Yes, Stanley, confession IS good for YOUR soul. Nice to see that you don't argue with the basic premise of my comment, however - there is hope for you yet.
Lots of well meaning people voted the wrong way in this election, most who voted for McCain, voted for him just to stop Obama!!!! So really we are not the losers< your ownership of America is!! Joe was just a common man asking a common question and for that he got attacked!!! Who put it in your mind to Hate him? You don't know him, but I'll bet he would feed you if you were starving and you were in his neighborhood!! What you people need to understand is The Poor Feed The Poor!! Period!!!! No matter you allow your government grow, it is still the people taking care of the people! The people are poor because of the government shearing them like they would a herd of sheep!!! Are you poor? Do you pay taxes? Do you feed your poor friends when they are hungry (Even though you already paid the government to do that for them)? They drive cadillacs while you can't afford the insurance to drive! Joe exposed Obama for wanting to be your Nanny and give you unearned handouts taken from the ones that might've hired you to work tomorrow, but now he can't afford it!!!
America Is owned by the people, therefore, it is a wealthy nation! People who wants gGovernment to own America and take care of their every need in life, are people seeking slavery! Poor people pay taxes too, that should tell you something, who ever said "Tax the poor"? You turn to the power that is to care for you and if he's offering you money you can bet it's not his money, it's yours, your bosses, friends and/or neighbors! Keep feeding government, every program costs you!!!
Steve
"JTP was a fraud and a liar."
HE asked a question that applies to millions of small business owners. He question was referenced in the “future” making it a “hypothetical question”
Aside from you what moron didn’t get that?
You are ACTUALLY accusing someone of lying about a future that has not happened?
Seriously are you an idiot?
Please note: the “Seriously are you an idiot?” is a rhetorical question, do you know what that means?
No? It means you don’t have to answer because we already know the answer.
“JTP was not going to buy the business”
And now you’re a mind reader or a fortuneteller?
Again his question applied to millions of Americans who either own their own business or are thinking that someday they would like to own their own business.
Are you claiming to “know what each and everyone of those people are actually thinking AND you also know their future?
Seriously are you an idiot?
"And if he did his income (not sales revenue of the company) would not have been over $250,000."
Really? Not ever over 250K. Not today, not 10 years from now? How would you know that?
Now consider this, the TOTAL tax lien was $1182.98.
Jones-Kelley, one of the Democratic governor's Cabinet leaders, earns $141,980 a year
That’s $2730 per week
$546.07 per day.
She spent 2 full days herself on these searches, for a total of $1092.14
What are the odds that when you include her 3 plus staff members and the heads of 5 other Ohio State agency’s along with their staff members in TOTAL
Cost the tax payers of Ohio less than $90.84 ?
BTW tax liens on homes are usually paid out when the property is sold.
Abusive State Agencies, yet another infringement on our rights by the gov't. Add it to the ever-growing list of violations:
They violate the 1st Amendment by opening mail, caging demonstrators and banning books like "America Deceived" from Amazon, Wikipedia and Facebook.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns during Katrina.
They violate the 4th Amendment by conducting warrant-less wiretaps.
They violate the 5th and 6th Amendment by suspending habeas corpus.
They violate the 8th Amendment by torturing at Gitmo.
They violate the entire Constitution by starting illegal wars without declaration.
Impeach them all (both parties) and save this great country.
Last link (unless Google Books caves to the gov't and drops the title):

duhhhhhhhh, yeah. the day i make 250,000 or so, and be taxed more than the others, i would be SO upset!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (not!)
I think most people are missing the point here. Whether or not you may believe in Joe's politics is not the issue. The issue is that people who work for this agencies abused their power and resources to dig up dirt on an average american. This I find disgusting, those found guilty of this should lose their jobs as they are not worthy of having them. This is like big brother. What does it matter whether he owed taxes, misstated his income or worth, that is beside the point. People have died to keep this country free, to give people the right to speak their mind. Those who don't defend these rights do not deserve these rights.
His current income made him eligible for a tax break under Obama's plan. PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THE MEDIA PLAYING WITH WORDS!!! THIS ONE SENTENCE HAS THE ONLY PURPOSE OF MAKING YOU THINK JOE WAS TRYING TO TRICK OBAMA. THEY INCLUDE THIS ONE LINE IN EVERY STORY I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET. DONT LISTEN TO THE "not so mainstream media".. THEY ARE PLAYING EVERY ONE OF YOU FOR A FOOL.. WATCH THE WORDS.. THEY PLANT WORDS/SENTENCES IN THEIR STORIES TO SWAY THE READERS. WHAT IDIOTS!!

Here's a sad fact. I work for the State of Ohio, I have watched the State fax machine crank out a steady flow of Union propaganda, partisian lies, and the State resources becoming Hitler like in a partisian frenzy.
I believe Gov Strickland wants to do the right thing, and he means well, but he has allowed an atmosphere of intolerance to flourish toward any other perspectives and this has contributed to unethical behavior in his administration. I refuse ethics training that Gov Strickland has mandated until he upholds the standards he says he supports. "Joe" was targeted, there is no doubt, we who work in State Gov't know it, Gov Strickland knows it, and we know he knows it. We are watching.
The real point to Joe is that Obama showed his real tendencies when he was out of the control of his handlers. Obama is a Hitler, Mussolini, Chavez, Ortega, Castro, socialist at heart. I hope for our country's sake that his handlers learned from the Clinton first term.
Of course, no democrat will be punished or investigated ala Plame. If anyone has to take a fall it will be the lowest desk clerk because management surely had no hand in anything. I guess the average member of the public has much less to fear from Homeland Security and abuse of the Patriot Act then it does from speaking in opposition to the agenda of the Democratic Party communo-socialists.
This disgusts me. A citizen of the US is not allowed to question a government official without fear of retaliation by out of control government seeking to dig up dirt? This is Big Brother in it's worst form.
I home "Joe the Plumber" gets a 'Larry the Lawyer" and sues the hell out of all those Agencies who trampled on his rights. Go get em' Joe. Just make sure you sue for $249,999.99, to avoid the taxes, LOL
Joe aka Sam the SCAB Plumber would be subject to arrest if he returns to Arizona anytime soon.**
He has unpaid traffic fines over $500 which means if he were to be stopped for a traffic violation in Arizona he could be sent to jail.
This clown was vetted about as well as Palin when our snowy haired Senator tried to make points on this "blue collar man of the people".
Joe the Plumber got flushed with McCain-Palin and should have his OHIO Driver's license pulled until he pays his fines here in AZ. (And God knows where else) The guy is a fraud. Come on Ohio enforce the law! Pull this scab's drivers license!

Liberalism truly is a sickness and liberals are the definition of psychotic, meaning abnormal condition of the mind and this story is just more evidence to prove this true. Liberals will background check to death legal Americans so as to discredit them and make them look a fool and even to have them arrested if illegal activity comes up in the search. Meanwhile millions of illegal aliens are roaming the streets - not paying taxes, not paying for medical care, obtaining fake social security numbers, committing massive amounts of crime and yet no checks are performed on the illegals. Liberals have made it illegal to check and/or report illegals. The liberal mind is completely psychotic. Want more proof? Lookup Michael Moore, Al Franken, Cindy Sheehan.
Joe The Plumber had the audacity to question The One when the media was too cowed to do its job, then found his efforts rewarded with an actual answer. How dare he!
It is a fact that most Americans are pacificists when it comes to the democratic process. They are too busy playing with their WII's to be bothered. but here we have 1 man who desired to know who this still unknown person was, what that person's plans for America were, and then was persecuted for being the very definition of what an American should be. So be it.
Those who illegally dug through Joe's personal information for purely political purposes should not just be fired. They should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. For anything less to happen sends a clear message to the rest of us.
Submit, or you will be punished!
Corruption of state officials by groups like ACORN could be controlled by requiring state officials not to have any party connections at all. Since we can't count on individuals for integrity and honesty, safeguards should be in place to ensure fairness for all.
Think about what could happen in Congress if there were no parties - only Americans who go to Washington to make decisions and policies based upon what's best for Americans and America.
Let the states take care of their business (bridges to nowhere, etc) but let the national politicians decide only on issues affecting the country.
Maybe we'd have some honesty after all - and there wouldn't be politicians in DC blocking good legislation just because of some political bias or posturing, or because it was sponsored by the other party.
Get rid of the parties that divide our country into red and blue. Any politician seeking state office should be apolitical and belong to no party.
What we have isn't working - so let's take control of our government and put in place something that will advance the interests of all Americans, not just the reds for the reds and the blues for the blues.
We're stagnant and making no progress. No more democrats, no more republicans - just Americans!
Gee, what a concept!
Makes me want to put my house on the market and move quickly to Ohio, Land of the Don't Ask the Right Question of the Wrong person. Why, oh why would I want to live in Ohio?
Listen, to have your government digging into your "confidental" business just because you ask a question of a politician is so wrong on so many levels. You hateful people out there spewing on Joe are way off base. You should be frightened that someone will read what you write and come after you with a big net. Go, Joe, we enjoyed your real contribution to this election process. Isn't it funny that we know more about Joe than we do the new president!
Ohio politics. NO! Democratic Party Politics. Slash and Burn. Attack and destroy. Illegally access information so they can silence all opposition and yet the people of Ohio still keep voting for the democrats and ignoring the perverse and illegal ways they treat citizens. What does this say about Ohio state government? It is corrupt but since the people permit it and since they accept it, they deserve it. Sad - yes. Bad - even more so. I would not want to live in Ohio with this kind of continuing garbage as status quo. How you treat "we the people" is important. Here is my message to Ohio politicians: Do something to correct this slimy conduct; do it fast and make it work for all your citizens or resign immediately. Shame on you!
M, re Patriot Act: M, you are a moron. How many people do YOU know or have heard about who have had their lives researched with a fine-toothed comb for speaking out against President Bush? How many media outlets camp out in front of the average Liberal's home who question Bush's policies on the WOT? You are the typical emotionally driven and intellectually bankrupt liberal weenie.
FBO... i saw how they attacked a fellow american ... crash and burn Obama... no to socialism.. no to collectivism... Resistance/Opposition to Socialism began 11/5/08 join us.. it's going to be fun 4 years fighting every stupid socialist idea this marxist can dream up..
oh one more thing.. Obama's illegal aunt.. she has to go... kick that old woman out of my country.. i'm not paying one more dime for the freeloading leftist dole.. she has to go.. kick her out
Joe was asked to work on the McCain campaign after he asked the question not before. Support who you will, but this is an invasion of privacy for the sole purpose of defaming a private citizen for asking a question to an idolized candidate. If the tables were turned and this was done to an Obama supporter there would have been a grand jury, senate investigations and racial epithets.
Personally, I don't have much feeling either way for Obama, but supporters are to be held legally responsible for using taxpayers money for unsubstantiated searches for the sole purpose of trying to invalidated a private citizen's question to a political figure.
I know I'm not paying their salaries for this work, this is a reason for firing as far as I am concerned. So search if you will, search on my dollar for your next vacation, hype on your neighbor, or to defame a private citizen whom made your candidate look bad. It is all wrong.
Jan, BO is the first candidate I can remember who told his followers to 'get in the face' of those who oppose him - most candidates attack their opponent or his ideas/proposals, but never ask his minions to attack the other voters.
There have been a lot of negative firsts by BO, but this one was especially egregious, maybe dangerous, because his groupies are so mindless they blindly follow! I think Joe the Plumber was a good example of that - the state employees were doing what they were told.
I would leave a comment but decline to do so out of fear of my background being checked...
This is just a taste of what is to come if you question the "messiah" or his "disciples". The same people that don't want us using our surveillance powers to monitor terrorists are the same ones that want us to use those powers to monitor our citizens. Talk about living in a dictatorship. Obama has far more in common with the practices of the Nazis than Bush ever did. Remember also that "Nazi" is short for "National Socialist". The operative word being socialist.
I'm not sure about the public records law in OH, but the public records law in other states indicates that most public records can be accessed and requested by the public (news media) as well as other government agencies. It is not unreasonable for these government agencies to prepare for large scale public records request by initiating searches in advance. Records requests are very time consuming and require review of the record in order to redact confidential information from the records being disclosed to the public. Also, in my state, the custodian of the record is not permitted to inquire as to the motive or the identity of the requestor, and is required by law to permit an inspection of all non-confidential information.
This story illustrates the unprecedented transparency that technology is bringing to society. Just as (allegedly) Plumber Joe's privacy was breached, access logs in Ohio's information systems show when his data was accessed and from which particular government offices. That's powerful stuff. Data logs can probably enable a deeper investigation into precisely who made the access and whether it was legal. If people acted illegally, the digital evidence can lead to their punishment. Such transparency represents a big trend in society http://hack-igations.blogspot.com/2007/12/people-in-authority-sometimes-abuse.html --Ben
You get the government you deserve, not the government you want. Goodbye America!
Obama was campaigning door to door and knocked on JTP's door. Joe did not seek out Obama. Obama was seeking JTP vote. Lets not confuse the facts.
JTP may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but then again don't think he voted for Obama. At least he gets up in the morning and goes to work, trying to make a honest living.
Lets all log in and attack JTP for asking questions.
What?
"Helping them out" thats the AG's offices job to help out the media ?
Why didnt they tell them to go look up the public records themselves?
All of the F*ckers that did this need to be fired.
The MSM vetted Joe Wurzelbacher more in 24 hours than it did Obama, since he started his campaign.
His media and bureaucratic wings pound a plumber who asked an honest question, rather than dissecting Obama's Marxist "I want to spread the wealth" response.
The message here is to remind people that critics will be *dealt* with.
Welcome to the Socialist States of America.
These searches were done purely for political purposes. Pure and simple! Heads should roll over this.
Mark wins for bringing appropriate satire to this discussion!
Seems to me you are all missing the point.
It has nothing to do with Obama or Joe.
The problem is that many liberal democrats have now morphed into radical liberal fascist.
Radical liberal fascist are now prepared to use lies and violence against any individuals that do not agree with them to stop them from exercising their free speech or any other consistorial privileges.
They are now about the same as they were when they would not allow women or slaves to vote.
They have always believed only liberals are intelligence enough to rule.
The real danger now is that most of the news media’s ownership and reporters are complicit with this.
Take a minute and think about what they have really did to the present President.
We, as citizens, have reacted with ignorance or at best appeasement.
bleeda
God forbid you should speak out against Barack Obama. Should you dare do so then the awesome powers of our goverment will come down on you and crush you like a bug.
Joe was simply asking a honest question. And his price for this is a unwarrented invasion of his privacy. And for others it is not enough Joe be tarred and feathered. A radio talk show host in San Fransico was fired because of his desire to see Joe just die. It is clear freedom of speech is comming under fire.
The Gov and all the state agency heads should resort to the old Clintonista retort: "So What?"
Worked for those shady characters . . . Come to think of it the same thing is working in Minnesota. "We can't find anything but Franken votes. So what?"
When the partisans AND the media settles for so what, you can lose a country.
The article fails to mention that Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, is a registered Democrat and donated $2,500 to Obama's primary campaign.
Nor does the article mention that each of the government bureaucrats who reflexively dropped their ongoing, tax-payer funded projects to investigate a private citizen - again, using our tax money-paid time to do it - is a registered Democrat.
The article provides no context for this invasion of personal, private information, thus implying that it is standard for anyone who asks a question of a political candidate to have their private information provided to the national media for immediate publication - without, of course, citing a single case where that had been done. In other words, this invasion of privacy is unique.
The article also does not mention the dripping irony that the far-Left, who always caterwaul that it is the Bush administration that shreds the Constitution to trample on individuals' privacy rights, are the only ones who actually do it, as witnessed by this abhorrent, unique episode.
Every single government bureaucrat who took it upon themselves to use government information to defame this private citizen should be immediately fired AND brought up on both criminal and civil charges.
Haha Obama won. In your faces to all that didn't vote for him. Joe is an idiot liar but should not have had his background checked by any goverment agencies. Fuuny people think you can't say anything bad about Obama but if you said anything bad about Bush the first 6 years you were considered unAmerican! I guess illegal wire tapping is okay though as long as YOU are not the one being tapped! Not much hope for a country this divided and we have Bush Jr to thank for that...

When is Joe the plumber the novel coming out? And beleive me it's coming.... bet it will be fair and balanced as well.
guess it's okay when voting is messed up in florida as long as YOUR candidate wins, but not okay if he doesn't?
Gee (or Duh)..... one wonders whether there was any political motivation beyond the unauthorized, unethical, and maybe illegal checks.
The same weenies scared of the Patriot Act are the same ones abusing the record system.
Please fire all those who did so, and watch them drown trying to survive with a real job in the private sector.
You can be sure that if Joe had been black, no state officials like Jones-Kelly would have gone digging for dirt on him.
This campaign became one in which caucasians could not say ANYTHING contrary about Obama without being labeled "racists".
They even slimed and destroyed Geraldine Ferraro, one of their own, for saying Obama was where he was in the polls because he was black, just as she was were she was in '84 for being a woman. It was a simple opinion that most would not argue, but the ugly attacks and threats of harm to her drove her out.
Back when Richard Nixon was doing this sort of thing, the media and bureaucratic liberals (now they call themselves progressives) loudly condemned this dirt-digging wicked, evil, unconstitutional, red-baiting, illegal, unAmerican, and just about every other printable or unprintable thing you can imagine. Now, when it is someone they don't like, it's okay, or no big deal, or even good. Hypocritical, intellectually dishonest, and double standard, thy name is DEMOCRAT.-tiberiusgracchus
Seems to me he was attacked quite a bit by the McCain campaign, didn't you see any of the tv ads?
bet you thought it was okay back then but now you don't? guess what that makes you?!
do not weep for Jones-kelley for she will have a job in Washington
Looks like STANLEY morphed into JOHN
Dell - why make the "not the sharpest tool" comment? I've listened to JTP speak about business decisions, taxes, the lowering of the "wealthy benchmark", etc. numerous times, and he has a good grasp on the subject. More than McCain and Palin did, THAT's for sure.
"do not weep for Jones-kelley for she will have a job in Washington" . . .
And that, folks, is what it all boils down to.
Stanley must be a smart guy!!
It's really disturbing that in the US something like this happens. And all because he asked a tough question of a Democrat presidential candidate. What happened to freedom of speech and our constitutional protections against an over-reaching government? I think all department heads at these agencies that violated (violated obviously for political reasons) this mans privacy be fired. Additionally I think he should SUE them in a big way. I'm sure the ACLU will be all over this one. :-P
I guess President Obama didn't need the votes of all you whiny rednecks. You all are as phony as Sam the Plumber, the law breaking scofflaw.
Well too bad Buckeyes it's called LANDSLIDE, it's called SCOREBOARD, it's called deal with it.
You'll be grateful to Obama within the first 2 years of his term, unless of course you like to hide under your hoods and sheets.
Oh yea, Ohio went for President Obama.
No thanks to you whiners who probably didn't vote anyway.
Bring Joe the Fraud back to Arizona and put his Nazi A*ss in jail until he can pay his fines to the city of Mesa.
OBAMA RULES, fools.
The DEMS dont want the American govt listening in on calls made to terrorists,
BUT they are certainly comfortable with the govt digging into Joe the Plumbers personal info and spreading it around the media.
OHIO s**ks!
Say it again Bill!!! Good stuff. Funny, Joe is a Republican and a law breaker, go figure!!! Ha! If this was a Democrat all these folks would be saying it doesn't matter because he is a law breaker and gets what he deserves!!! Typical!! That being said, what was done was wrong and the folks should have to pay for it according to the law.
I know this story is linked to Drudge so one would expect some rather extreme comments but why does everyone keep referring to "illegal searches" of the data base on JTP. My understanding from actually reading the article is that these searches of public records were meant only to insure that the media was being given correct information regarding perfectly legal inquiries. The tax leans are public record, no secret. ''We are not aware of any inappropriate browsing of information by anyone in our department pertaining to Mr. Wurzelbacher,'' Kohlstrand said. There are plenty of good reasons to be concerned about our country and the state of our freedoms but this hardly seems an appropriate rallying point against invasion of our privacy.
As a native Buckeye (born in Toledo, very near Joe the Plumber's residence in Holland), I remember keenly and gladly the day I left the state -- FOR GOOD -- to find a better life. OHIO = Unions. Democrats. Taxes. Regulations. All the makings of a depressed economy -- and even more depressed citizens. I empathize with Joe the Plumber who may not have had the opportunity to leave the state. He and I are about the same age. Joe: I got out! Nonetheless, Joe was well within his rights to ask The Messiah Obama about his spread-the-wealth philosophy. My advice to Joe: Joe -- pack up and head out to a state -- Utah comes to mind -- there are others -- where your morals and your principles will not be the subject of illegal government scrutiny. I'm glad I can limit my involvement with Buckeyes to an annual visit to relatives, an occasional glimpse at an Ohio State football game (PS: I'm happy when they lose), and Christmas cards to family and friends. YES -- in my household, we still say, "Merry Christmas." Good riddance to Ohio and its miserable roads and railroad crossings and schools and...and...and...and...
How nauseating and revealing to see the downright glee and nastiness on display from the so-called "enlightened" and "progressive" wing.
They celebrate a private citizen having gestapo tactics employed to silence, all because it was for THEIR man.
No wonder these same leftists cry like little babies when we want to wiretap suspicious calls to likely terrorists.
They think that the Bush Administration operates identically to the way they would, i.e. use those wiretaps to target political opponents.
This, folks, is called projection - applying your nefarious beliefs and actions to others, unaware that said others do not share your opinions or behavior.
Today's left is unlike some years ago, when the Democrats/Liberals actually had scruples and believed in equal protection.
Gone are the Mike Mansfields, Scoop Jacksons, and Hubert Humphreys, who were all principled men who were AMERICANS first, and Democrats second.
Today's liberals are liberals first, foremost, and almost exclusively.
And the only principles many of them adhere to are those that lead to them achieving their political ends, with the means being entirely prisoner to those ends.
In short, anything goes if it means they win.
There is none of the "I would rather lose an election than lose a war."
Joe Wurzelbacher knows it, and now the rest of American knows it.
I didn't know you have to have all your taxes paid up, be current on child support and not have any liens against you to be able to ask a question to someone who didn't have to answer anyway. I have a few questions but I see in Ohio you can only ask certain questions. No questions are allowed if it might make the person answering say something that makes them sound like an idiot. Does this apply to both parties or just if you ask a question of a Democratic candidate? Wait, is it ok to ask that? Don't answer if it means an investagation.
This Country gets what it deserves.
How many of you remember a certain President's wife that had 600 confidential FBI files in her white house residence?
A past white house lacky accessed only one FBI file and went to jail for that, G Gorden Liddy.
I am dialed in on the unholy allience that the DNC has with the MSMedia. My guess is the masses are less interested with the liberal socialist slant in the country that they are about their favorite wresler or ball club, go figure.
Scott, so you are a real American but if somebody disagrees with you then they are not?
Yeah, Prof, union's have gone over board but without them unless your last name is Rockefeller then you would be eating potatoes for all your meals! Think big business hasn't gone overboard? Check out the bank bail outs, no unions involved there!!
JustMeinB sez,"This guy was a a farce anyway. Just another person who hasn't paid his taxes. And a liar to boot." Actually, joe didn't owe any taxes, you moron. That makes you the liar.
He is the "that one" who brought joe the plumber's name to the dinner table. Thank the BUSH ADMINISTRATION for the Obama victory.
The ONE who brought JTP to the dinner table was Obama, the Sunday BEFORE the debate.
Now, why was the STATE of OHIO investigating JPT BEFORE the debate?
Did they investigate EVERYONE who ask Obama question? Just incase it comes up?
The Debate ended at 9:30 CT Oct 15. How is it that he media had ALL this “privet” government controlled info interviews and all for the first edition Oct 16?
This is not only a violation of JTP’s rights it’s an insult to Obama.
Obama’s supporters have sooooo little faith in Obama they started digging “just in case”
How do you think Obama feels, knowing his strongest supporters thinks he is a moron?
For those of you support Obama, why do you think he is a Moron?
There is no sense in arguing with these Obamanuts, when they wake up into a country they don't know any more, a country with far less freedoms than we once had, it will only be then, they realized what happened, and when they ask Obama - He will play the 6 degrees of Bush game, wherein everything bad flows back to Bush. Obama could walk to their front door, they could answer it, and have Obama urinate all over them, and they will call a press conference to show how they were just anointed with holy water!
Amendment 4 - Search and Seizure. Ratified 12/15/1791.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
As citizens, we are garanteed by the Constitution against illegal search and seizure. These agencies violated Joe's Constitutional Rights. That is the Bottom Line.
http://thinkingamerican.blogtownhall.com
The way that bureaucrats and so called "journalists" ganged up on Joe The Plumber is despicable. No wonder that the economic mess, the cause so central to Obama and his communist or communist leaning cronies like ACORN, The Woods Fund, Jim Johnson, Franklin Raines, Barney Frank, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Tony Rezcoe, Bernardine Dohrn, Bill Ayers, Countrywide, etc., etc., etc., was blamed on Bush. Well, good night and good luck, as one commie once said, the foxes who should be frog marched to prison are now guarding the economic henhouse.
Mary, that is how you supported Bush and his war in Iraq, not how thinking Democrats act!! Funny the 180 you folks do from saying Bush is so great to saying that we are so gaga with Obama.
Come election time, Ohio Attorney General Nancy Rogers should be VOTED OUT of OFFICE! Period. Citizens of Ohio, Democrats and Republicans alike, all should act in unison on this one. Because the next time it happens, it may not be the Party on your side doing the searching. And it may be you or your neighbor. And soon enough, there'll be one Party in charge, and then it won't matter. Everyone will either agree or be subject to investigation. Vote that hack out of office and any other elected officials complicit in this grievous infringement on every American's civil rights.
Interesting how the Obamanuts claim that Americans supposedly have lost so many civil liberties under Bush and, lo and behold, they are the first to defend violating civil liberties of critics of Obama.
Pretty hypocrtical, as well as creepy.
Incidentally, Obama received less votes in Ohio than did Kerry in '04.
It's becoming increasingly apparent that Obama won because conservatives/Republicans either stayed home or, for a few of them, voted for Obama.
Interesting implications for '12.
MARY oh mary,so quiet contrary, how does your plumber go...in an outhouse in back of your house just like joe the bummer looking for his hummer, skpping out on his taxes while sending Mcrazy cain faxes,on how to con OH-HI-OH....people were too smart my dear, get over your republican self centered altitude-which self destructed in front of your eyes and ears on NOV 4TH !!
"Posted by tim 08:56 AM, 11/14/2008
People ,all this guy did was ask " the chosen one " a question, and look at how many agencies were out to dig up dirt on him. This kind of stuff shouldn't be going on if we truely believe we live in a free society .I'll bet any one of you would not want your whole past dug up and then handed over to some media outlet for the whole world to see just because you dared to stand up and ask a question."
Thanks Tim, well said! As for others here who think that all democrats are like these bozos who attacked Joe, we're not. Let's not paint a group with the same brush. The best part about America is our individuality. We're the best! I'm so tired of all the anti-American rhetoric I hear and it's worse when we attack our own.
This, Fannie Mae and ACORN are what happens when Democrats control the government. It is about to get a lot worse. Wake up America.
they can't get anything done in washington. but they can waste time on joe. unbelievable ? the country just voted full goverment control. thats communism, for you people who voted it in. i cant wait till next year. notice how the liberal news is always bringing up the racial tension. the more news the worst it gets. WHATS ARE THEY STARTING !
Reading what was done to this man just because he asked questions from his own driveway I would like to add in again is beyond the pale. Even if he did or does owe taxes. He is an American citizen who has (had) the right to ask anything he wants! I'm would be sorry to say I lived in Ohio and not stand up for Joe's rights. No Matter How He Votes.
SUE!!!
I am truly scared for my country! When a man asks a question of a political figure and he is investigated? Disgusting!
What's worse - instead of outrage against the Ohio state agencies who did this, they attack him as 'Joe the Phony', 'he lied', 'he's not a liscened plumber!' BTW @$$hats, most plumbers are not liscensed. I'm am truly disgusted.
The hypocracy of the liberals is evident when they approve of the violation of Joe's civil rights and try to justify the law breaking by claiming he wanted publicity or whatever. The point is that the state does not have the right to abuse its power to attack a citizen who asks impertinent questions. Not ever. Period. The fact that the Obama group did not criticize this illegal activity tells you what their values are. Any bets what they will do by way of invading citizen's privacy when they are in power. Audits anybody? It was wrong when Nixon tried to do it. And it will be wrong when Obama does it. And anybody who does not understand it will be a fellow traveller to the institution of a new totalitarianism. Hopefully this does not happen. Hopefully the domestic police function as powerful and well funded as the military that Obama talked about does not happen. We will see. Hopefully he will be a great President. But his silence on this travesty like many other of his actions has to make you worry . . . just a tad.
"Change you can believe in".
Invasion of privacy by those who scream against invasion of privacy. How predictable!
Me thinks a troll has hit this page, a very angry one changing their name each time they post........
Oddly enough, the only side I've ever heard referring to Obama as a messiah are his opponents.
Let's all just take a deep breath and get over it, let the country move on.
Louis Farrakhan, another of Obama's odd associates has said of our venerable president elect, and I quote "The Messiah is absolutely speaking". And any rationally thinking objective viewer of the media must conclude that the media has covered his entire campaign, since about February 08, as though it is becoming a Messianic event. It's not just right wingers. So if you don't like what you see when you look in the mirror, then sharpen your critical thinking faculties.
JTP needs to sue. As an aside, where is the MSM when it comes to following through on Obama's chicago house deal.....A pure and simple kickback from Rezko - Obama should be prosecuted just as Senator Stevens was in Alaska. Do you really think we will see that happen.....?? Let's get mad about something we might be able to do something about.
How Joe the Plumber has been treated is just the beginning. The Nazi-Democrats are just getting warmed up.
Joe has a law suit!!! I would Sue...Brunner and that idiot Strickland!! Strickland likes to call Dems who did not vote for Obama Racists!!! Funnny he had no problem with those people...when he ran against a Black man ...Ken Blackwell...seems to me the bigot is Strickland!!!!
Sue Joe Sue!!!!
The point here is if a Democrat Socialist Presidential candidate shows up on your driveway, you had best genuflect and offer him worship. For goodness sake's don't ask him any tough questions.
I love the LIberals show their hate for a man who from his own home asked a simple Question.....the Messiah gave a truthful answer....and the Democrat Activists started a search the records and attack plan. After this election..I have elected to openly HATE liberals....If Strictland and his minions do not severly discipline these people who used State records to attack a citizen...then it will result in Anarchy afainst Strickland and the Liberal Mindless thugs.

You hit the nail right on the head Joe
Is this what the average citizen can expect from an Obama Administration?
People we are about to lose our freedoms. This is worse than anything Bush was accused of doing.
Welcome to Big Brother.
i heard him say on t.v. that he wants to build a private police force. just like hitlers ss. the new world order is here ! and it is called communism or full goverment control. see they had us looking at the black and white b.s.meanwhile full goverment control was the main object. look at what the government has been buying up ? JOE WAS THE FIRST CASUALTY OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER.
We just threw Taft out for his golf freebies!!! Now we have the dimocrats with their corruption and violations of individual privacy--just because Joe asked a question that their Dear Leader truthfully answered letting us know what he really had in store for all working Ohioans---TAXES TO REDISTRIBUTE OUR HARD EARNED WEALTH. I suggest that we throw this bunch of criminals out and return to public floggings of corrupt politicians and their followers.
THE ONLY THING MORE DANGEROUS THAN THE DIMOCRATS IS THE KOOLAIDE DRINKERS TRYING TO EXPLAIN AND JUSTIFY THE CORRUPTION OF THESE PRETENDERS TO THE PRESIDENCY!! IT IS A TALE TOLD BY AN IDIOT--FULL OF SOUND AND FURY, SIGNIFYING NOTHING.....PASS THE KOOLAIDE AND DRINK DEEPLY, VOTE OFTEN AND VOTE FOR MORE OF THE SAME. THE ACORN DOES NOT FALL FAR FROM THE OBAMA. STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When state employees use state owned computers to get "dirt" on a private citizen who had the temerity and courage to ask a simple question, we are in the beginning throes of a dictartorship.
Our govt employees are suppose to serve us; the people. Govt ees are not supposed to spy on us and leak private info out to serve their union and political bosses. The scary thing about it the chilling effect it has on others who simply want to ask a question, rather than worship the public employees union chosen leader. Be afraid of the increasing power of the state fellow citizens. This is not limited to Ohio. Schumer and Pelosi in Congress want to pass something called the Fairness Doctrine. This is an attempt to stop dem critics like Rush Limbaugh. They want to take him off the air. This, along with the biased network media makes any thinking person fearful of our citizens losing their democracy to a totalitrian state.
So state & maybe other government workers used state computers & equipment on government time I’m sure to research "personal" information on a private citizen for "their own personal use"? Doesn’t that constitute abuse of government property? And as a tax payer I would demand the firing of these employees! Hey tha’s what would happen in the “real world” . I do find it strange the media & obamaites did more research on Joe than they did on osamas associations w/ rev wright & flegler, bill ayers, william resco, & Rashid Khalidi
Comparison of Barack Obama with Adolf Hitler
On November 10, 2008, almost one week after the
Presidential election concluded, Broun criticized President-elect
for a civilian national security force, suggesting that Obama might
use it to establish a Marxist dictatorship.
state employees looking at JTP records- not a problem
state employees giving media PUBLIC ACCESS INFO- not a problem
state employees giving away PERSONAL info-problem
Was Barac Obama checked out by all the states? We know that 96% of the blacks voted for Barac and we know that a majority of the blacks are in the wood pile
Wanna see if Ted Strickland is a liar? Watch and see if Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, ends up in the Barrack Obama Administration. I bet if the Beacon Journal does their job and follows the story she ends up there. So exactly what did Ted suspend her for with pay?
Civilian National Security Force... already done by Germany in the 30's and 40's. Theirs was called the SS or Gestapo. Their job? To arrest, interrogate or execute anyone who questioned or spoke out against the new leader.
I agree two minutes is all we could stand!
I agree two minutes is all we could stand!
Again, I agree.
If you put yourself out there in the media and give your opinion on various topics, you are probably going to be scrutinized by one person or another. Especially when you are going to give you thoughts on taxation and finance. He should have made sure that he had his things in order. Instead or Joe The Plumber maybe he should have just been called Average Joe.
Also what I find amazing is that most of the people complaining about the proposed special tax for incomes above $250,000, will never see that amount of money in a lifetime moreless annually. I personally think taxes should be a set designated percentage regardless of how much you make. I'm single, don't have any kids, paid my way through college and make over $50,000.00 and I get taxed like hell to pay for EIC and welfare programs. I don't think that's fair, but I still along with millions of americans still pay them. If you choose to make babies take care of them quit looking for handouts and programs. Shovel manuer if you have too. Whatever.
The best part is even with all the idiot Republicans voting(even if it was Hitler running)that Obama won. Thanks to everybody else with a brain!!
Why isn't the ALCU getting involved. I guess privacy rights are only for liberals
Another stupid comment by Betamax. Obviously Betamax, since you're too stupid and don't know how to read, you obviously missed the "public records" part of this story.
SCHOOT HER!! or I will.

Umm....ever hear of "public record"? Good Lord. The first couple of posts are already pretty ignorant. I guess there's alot more to follow. lol
Edward ignorantly said:
"Keep on slandering a Man who asked a simple question..."
Slander huh? How was he slandered? Your ignorant response should be nothing short of amusing.
So has Joe the Deadbeat Plumber gotten a job yet so he can pay his back taxes?
Where's the outrage towards McCain because HE is the one who put Joe The Deadbeat in the spotlight -- NOT Barack Obama.
But of course, all of you blatantly ignorant and uneducated right-wing whiney losers seem to forget that important fact. That it was your man McCain who put Joe in the spotlight. You people are uneducated fools.
Where's the ACLU on this matter?? Government snooping on a person of ANY political party is wrong.
I love all the sheep who follow their new leader blindly and can't understand the point of this whole thing. The issue of back taxes is completely irrelevant. Once again the point is he made the chosen one look bad and exposed him for the socialist is. Now he is being persecuted by the liberal press.
I understand Heinrich Luitpold Himmler will head the civilian police force. Funny how Jews even voted for Hitler because he promised CHANGE!!
Bin Laden will come out of hiding and back into power on 1/20/09.
The ABJ need to add an option so that you can add pretty pictures to blogs so that some people can understand.
The republican voted for Obama, because it looks like McCain is about to fall over dead any minute and they didnt' want Sarah Palin's dumb (you know what) to become president.
Oh Craig, your paranoia is showing! In fact, I see nothing but paranoia and fear of any kind change on this thread now.
Too bad JTP turned into a good excuse for so many to vent their fear and hatred....hopefully ya'll get it out of your systems soon!
Lots and lots of p***** off people here. My point about Joe the Plumber is that he wanted to ask Obama "a tough question". The problem was, he wasn't genuine about the question. He picked a scenario to try to embarrass Obama. So John McCain decided to make him a celebrity. With that comes scrutiny. If public officials illegally tapped into is information, then they should be punished. I believe the ACLU has condemned the inquisition. Funny, though how all of you right-wingers spewing all of this venim don't have much to say about the Bush administration trying to stomp all over constitutional rights. If you think what happened to Joe the Unlicensed Plumber is bad, watch the HBO movie "Taxi to the Dark Side". You'll get a first hand look of your boys in action.
And Tim, if I didn't want my life scrutinized, I sure wouldn't do what this guy did.
Stephanie, that's what they told the people who was against Hitler, and then shot them.
Joseph, you are another person who has missed the point. The point is, the question exposed BO socialist agenda. Everything else is mute. He didn't pick anything. BO came into his yard. As far as tapping by the Bush administration, it uncovered several terrorist plots, so good for them!
The truth is, all you cared about was that BO wasn't a republican. You didn't care about BO's past, his connections and associations or his agenda. He was elected by people who wouldn't take the time to do some research, but thought it easier to blame the president for everything.
Sorry Craig, but you've got your history wrong on that one! If Obama ever makes us wear our religious affiliation on our clothing, then your statement would properly apply. Until then, you're just paranoid!
