The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio will benefit from the ''Give a Hand'' promotion at participating McDonald's restaurants. Customers pay $1 for a colorful hand to be displayed in the restaurant, with proceeds supporting the organization's educational programs. Restaurants will also donate $1 from the sale of select menu items.

The Union Hospital Auxiliary will host its 15th annual Christmas Tree Festival from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily (except Nov. 23, when closing will be at 5 p.m.) at the Warther Carvings Museum, 331 Karl Ave., Dover. Trees will be on display for purchase at prices ranging from $100 to $1,000. Admission $4 for adults, children under 12 free.

The Medina County District Library recently concluded its 2008 Warm Up Medina County program with the distribution of 580 handcrafted scarves, afghans and hats to area organizations that will distribute them to clients in need. The program kicked off in September with library patrons hand knitting or crocheting at events at their local library branches.
