It was no fantasy: Those were real snowflakes falling as guests gathered at Fairlawn Country Club for the ninth annual Fall Fantasy Saturday night. Madeline Bozzelli chaired the fundraiser for the Women's Board of the ARC of Summit and Portage Counties.
Jack Hurd and Bill Smith provided music as guests looked over the silent auction of baskets and gifts, many with a Christmas theme.
Placing bids were Pat and John Niekamp, Marge Trettel, Terri Darcy, Kathleen and Bernie Hovey, Marian Nemer and Freda Corbin.
Marla Sisley modeled a beautiful gold bracelet, part of the live auction. Tatsyana Havel, her husband, John, and their foster son, Michael, enjoyed conversation with Lisa and John Platt and Carol and Bryan Wells.
Leeanne Saro, executive director for the ARC, said all funds raised support advocacy for people in the community with mental retardation and developmental disabilities. Development Director Barb Harris said the ARC serves more than 7,000 people a year.
Board President Mary Wolfman enjoyed the event with Mary and Bob Lattimer, Irene Berger and her son, James, Nancy Demeter, Johanna and Jack Kesevik, June and Ed Carter, George George, Rita Brown, Dorothy and Bill Zoltai, Peter and Mary Alice Tavolier and her sister, Helen Conway.
After dinner, the Ballet Theatre of Ohio presented Waltz of the Flowers, a dance sequence from The Nutcracker ballet that it will perform at the Akron Civic Theatre Nov. 29 through Dec. 7.
Guests sang Happy Birthday to James Berger, who won two gold medals figure skating in the Special Olympics.
Libert Bozzelli conducted the live auction. Among the winning bidders were Paul and Pat Prevosnik, Ron and Jackie Dillard and Terry and Pat Hennessy.
