Today is the day many tree farms open for the holiday season.
Here is a list of where you can cut your own tree or buy a live or freshly cut tree.
SUMMIT COUNTY
Boston Heights Nursery: 6546 Olde Eight Road, Boston Heights. Daylight hours through Dec. 24. Choose a tree and employees will cut. Balled and burlapped available. 330-650-0267.
Collier Road Christmas Trees: 1565 Collier Road, Akron. 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily until Christmas. Fresh cut and live dug. Trees up to 20 feet. Firewood available. 330-573-5192 or http://www.collierroadchristmastrees.com.
Heritage Farms: 6050 Riverview Road, Peninsula, one-quarter mile south of state Route 303. Noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday, through Dec. 24. The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad offers a Christmas Tree Adventure to Heritage Farms. Depart from the Rockside Station in Independence at 10:15 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and Dec. 6-7 and 13-14 for a ride through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park to Peninsula. Take the trolley to Heritage Farms to cut down or pick out a tree. Hot cider or cocoa will be served while your tree is bundled and delivered to the train for transport back to your car. Fortney Tree Farm: 3369 State Road, Granger Township, between state routes 18 and 303, just south of the Hinckley Metropark. Open two weekends only during daylight hours, Dec. 6-7 and 13-14. Green Valley Tree Farm: 7542 Ridge Road (state Route 94), Sharon Township, 11/2 miles north of Wadsworth and 11/2 miles south of Sharon Center. 1 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, through Dec. 23. Trees cut fresh every day, Victorian pruned, tree shaking available.
Hastings Tree Farm: 5664 Windfall Road, Montville Township, one mile south of state Route 18. Windfall Road is one-quarter mile east of Interstate 71 and about seven miles west of I-77. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, through Dec. 24.
