Crack cocaine found in two Alliance homes
Published on Sunday, Dec 07, 2008
Beacon Journal staff report
Two police investigations in Alliance led to four people being arrested Friday, three on charges of possession of crack cocaine and one for obstructing justice.
One of those arrested also is accused of threatening to burn down the home of a witness.
At about 6:40 p.m. Friday, Alliance police arrested Daemon Ford, 31, of South Liberty Avenue, for trafficking in crack cocaine, driving under suspension and possession of marijuana.
After being processed at Stark County Jail, Ford was released at about 11 p.m. A little over an hour later, a witness told Alliance police that Ford had blamed the witness for his arrest and threatened to burn down the witness's home.
Police went to a home on McGrath Street at about 3 a.m. Saturday to arrest Ford for the alleged threats. Police said Lisa Riley, a resident at that address and Ford's girlfriend, refused to let them enter. After police got a search warrant, Riley and Ford yielded and were taken into custody.
Ford was charged with possession of crack cocaine found in the home, retaliation and aggravated menacing. Riley was charged with obstructing justice. Both are due in Alliance Municipal Court on Monday.
In a separate incident, Alliance police raided the Ansley Street home of Chris
topher Hicks, 38, and Jennifer Zufall, 32.
Police said they found marijuana, crack cocaine and $521 believed to be proceeds from illegal drug sales.
Both Hicks and Zufall were charged with possession of crack and endangering five children from 5 to 11 years old. Hicks also was charged with drug abuse.
Both are due in Alliance Municipal Court on Monday.
In addition, police said Hicks and Zufall face multiple counts of drug trafficking for alleged sales made to confidential informants before the search. Their cases will be presented to a Stark County grand jury.
The case also will go to the Mahoning County prosecutor because Hicks and Zufall are accused of selling crack cocaine in Smith Township.

How dare the Police interrupt their business right before Christmas dont they know they have children to buy gifts for...Oh thats right the Judges will left them out just in the St Nick of time...
Alliance? Who cares what is happening in Alliance? The BEacoon ignores the problems in Akron because the Don says so. How about doing stories about the gang problem on Copley Road or the burglary problems throughout the city. The ABJ would much rather attack the police then inform the citizens about the problems in the area.
alliance????
Alliance is south of Canton and has a large black population. Crack. Imagine that!
these are good people cough in hard times
these are good people cough in hard times
Missy! Gang Problem on Copley Road??? Come on now you can do better than that...Define Gang for me please! People don't know what gangs are not until you go to a BIG CITY..Akron don't have STRONG gangs like that. LOL
IT'S A RECCISION PEOPLE.......
DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHERE THE CRIME WAS COMMITTED? EVERYONE SHOULDE BE GLAD THIS TRASH IS OFF THE STREET, REGARDLESS OF THE CITY!!!!!
Yevette is right Im from N.Y. And lived in Chiacgo these ain't real gangs (wanna B.d.g."s). And Chris ur right Alliance isa black city so crack is there it's no different than living in the falls,or stow and selling and smoking meth
Yeah, I suppose they are arming themselves with
"wannabe" guns too. Anthony and Yvette need to learn how to comprehend what they read. Missy never said that the gangs were "strong" gangs like the big city thugs. While we are on that subject. Do you guys live in denial? What, the "strong" gangs from the big cities do not know how to read a map for directions to get here? Gangs everywhere are looking for more turf to control. Just keep your head in the sand, just like our mayor. He said, "There are NO gangs in Akron."
