DNA links Akron man to break-ins

AKRON: A 48-year-old Akron man is wanted for three counts of breaking and entering in connection with the robberies of three businesses in 2007.

Detectives from the Akron Police Department issued warrants for the arrest of Willie C. Townsend of Clark Street.

DNA testing at the state crime lab in Columbus indicates Townsend is responsible for the break-ins at A1 Office Furniture at 211 W. Market St., Perfection Hair Consultants at 339 W. Exchange St. and Bob's Hamburg at 1351 East Ave.

I see your point on one hand... but on the other now that his arrest has been made public, anyone caught helping or harboring him could be charged with a crime. I wonder if that is a deterrent or not.

What's the difference Hank ? Now he knows he's wanted, he didn't before. He's lookin over his shoulder until he's taken off the street, not a good feeling I'm sure. I like the way APD is going about this. This is they're job, they know what's shakin.....

it sounds as if he was identified from the State Felony DNA Data base. DNA taken from anybody convicted of a felony
