Top official at KSU Stark campus resigns

University says Dean Betsy Boze leaving for 'personal reasons'

By Carol Biliczky
Beacon Journal staff writer

Betsy Boze, dean of Kent State's Stark County campus, announced Friday she is leaving immediately.

She could not be reached for further comment.

The university sent out a news release citing ''personal reasons'' for her abrupt departure.

Boze, 55, joined the largest of Kent State's seven regional campuses in 2005. About 4,000 students are enrolled in credit courses on KSU Stark's 200 acres in Jackson Township.

Before coming to Kent State, Boze was dean of the School of Business at the University of Texas at Brownsville for 11 years.

Her other administrative and faculty appointments were at St. Bonaventure University, the University of Maryland, Centenary College of Louisiana, the University of Alaska and Texas Southmost College.

She has a bachelor's in psychology and a master's in business administration from Southern Methodist University. She also has a doctorate in marketing from the University of Arkansas.

Ruth Capasso, KSU Stark associate dean of academic affairs, was appointed to oversee immediate operations at the campus while administrators select an interim dean and begin the search for a permanent replacement.

Carol Biliczky can be reached at 330-996-3729 or cbiliczky@thebeaconjournal.com.
