Fire displaces Akron family

AKRON: A family of eight had to seek emergency shelter Sunday afternoon after a kitchen fire rendered their second-story apartment uninhabitable.

No one was injured in the blaze, which was reported at 4:19 p.m. at 643 S. Hawkins Ave. The fire was under control within 10 minutes, according to the Akron Fire Department.

The Red Cross was finding temporary housing for the two adults and six children living in the apartment.
