GREEN City seeks funds
GREEN: City Council has authorized the filing of an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation to resurface portions of Massillon Road in 2010.
The city will also seek Community Development Block Grant funding for a proposed sanitary trunk sewer project along the same roadway.
City Engineer Paul Pickett said the resurfacing would cost ODOT $1.55 million and Green would pay another $380,000.
Resurfacing would run from the south city limits to Koons Road, from State Road to Wise Road and from Raber Road to the city's northern corporate limits. Another 2.1 miles would be resurfaced in Springfield Township.
Ward 1 Councilman Jim Colopy said the sewer project would only move forward if enough funding is received in a block grant from Summit County's Department of Development.
A final cost figure for the project remains under discussion.
GREEN SCHOOLS Official resigns
GREEN: After two years as operations manager of Green schools, Stan Taylor is leaving the district Sept. 30.

Edward Martino III, 24, of 26th Street Southwest, was arrested May 29 in Albuquerque, N.M.
Authorities say he fled to the city after allegedly shooting cousins Jonathan Pierce, 32, of Canton, and DeAndre Ruffin, 22, of Massillon. Melissa Pinney, 31, of Canton, who was in a car at the White Crowne Tavern, also was killed by gunfire.
Martino is charged with three counts of aggravated murder, one count of attempted murder and a weapons charge.
Attorney Chris Newlon represented Martino on Thursday in Judge John A. Poulos' courtroom in Canton Municipal Court. A preliminary hearing has been set for June 12.
STOW Teen falls off car
STOW: A 17-year-old Stow girl who fell from the top of a moving vehicle early Thursday was unconscious at Akron City Hospital, where she was taken after suffering critical head and leg injuries.
The driver of the car, a Stow girl who is also 17, has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and aggravated vehicular assault, said Capt. Rick Myers of the Stow Police Department.
The injured teen was found on the side of the road at Whipporwill and Meadow Lark trails shortly after 4 a.m. by an adult who was called to the scene by the driver.
The adult, who was not identified, alerted police, who then called Stow emergency medical services.
Two 16-year-old boys were also in the vehicle at the time, Myers said.
The incident remains under investigation.

WADSWORTH Council hearing
WADSWORTH: City Council will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on a proposal to limit the planning commission's discretionary power.
The meeting will be at City Hall, 120 Maple Street.
Under the present zoning laws, the commission has broad powers to add conditions to zoning applications. City Council wants the power limited to imposing only those conditions specifically set forth in the zoning code.
The commission has proposed a compromise that would limit it to only imposing additional conditions directly related to requirements of the zoning ordinance to preserve the public health, safety and welfare.
