A reception for the Rev. Louis Diehl, who is retiring after 37 years of ministry, will be held after the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday at Hudson United Methodist Church, 2600 Hudson-Aurora Road.
Diehl, who has been senior pastor of the Hudson church since July 2005, was ordained a deacon in 1972. He has served churches in Mayfield Heights, Ashland County, North Ridgeville and Norwalk. He also was associate minister at Wadsworth United Methodist Church from 1977 to 1984 and pastor of Northampton United Methodist Church from 1984 to 1986.
During his ministry, Diehl participated in a pastoral exchange to Manchester, England, where he served two United Methodist churches. He has been active in the national church and the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. His community involvement includes being an active member of the Hudson Rotary and the Hudson Ministerial Association.
He and his wife, Judy, have been married 41 years. They have three children, Steve of Chicago; David of Raleigh, N.C., and Amy Crader of New York.
