The cleanup under the state's Voluntary Action Program was directed by the city of Canton, which hired a certified environmental professional to assess the pollution at the site that was formerly the National Iron and Metal Co. and Canton Metal Alloy (more recently known as Industrial Recycling Services).
The EPA issued an agreement not to sue to current owners — Bruening Sheplar Associates Inc., T&W Investments LLC and Absolute Auto & Truck Technicians — for the past environmental problems.
