ROOTSTOWN TWP.
Man dies in crash
ROOTSTOWN TWP.: A 36-year-old Ravenna man died in a motorcycle crash Wednesday on Herriff Road.
The Ravenna Post of the State Highway Patrol reported that Kelly B. Brewster was killed when his motorcycle slid and went off the road about three-tenths of a mile north of Sandy Lake Road about 5:02 p.m. Wednesday.
The patrol said in a news release that Brewster was traveling at a high rate of speed when he slowed at a sharp left curve, slid off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
Brewster, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the bike. He was taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital and later was pronounced dead at Akron City Hospital, officials said.
The accident remains under investigation.
STATE NEWS
Approval slipping
COLUMBUS: A new poll shows that Gov. Ted Strickland's job approval rating has dropped dramatically.
The same poll finds that about half of all Ohioans give the governor failing marks on his handling of the economy and the state budget.
The Quinnipiac University survey released Friday says Strickland has a 46 percent job approval rating, down from 57 percent in early May.
That's his lowest rating since February 2007.
The poll also finds that most Ohioans support Strickland's proposal to put video slot machines at Ohio's horse racing tracks.
