AKRON

West Hill meeting

AKRON: The West Hill Neighborhood Organization will have their annual Meet & Greet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Highland Theater, 826 Market St.

There will be the yearly meeting, awards and contests, snacks and a cash bar.

BATH TWP.

Women's event

BATH TWP.: The free Sisterhood Health Forum for women is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Akron General Health & Wellness Center — West, 4125 Medina Road, Bath Township.

The forum will focus on preventing and treating pelvic health issues like overactive bladder, incontinence and other issues.

There are speakers and educational booths at both events with finger sandwiches, desserts, herbal teas and coffee in the early session and wine, hors d'oeuvres and desserts in the evening session.

GREEN

Open house set

GREEN: The city and Green Local Schools will host a community celebration and open house at the new Central Administration Building from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 4.

The event, at the CAB at the west end of Town Park Boulevard in Town Park Center will begin with placement of a time capsule and include tours of the building. There will be a touch-a-truck event in the parking lot.

The $9 million building opened earlier this month.

HUDSON

Candidate night

HUDSON: The Hudson Economic Development Corporation will host a candidate forum from 8 to 9 a.m. Friday at Country Club of Hudson, 2155 Middleton Road.

The six candidates running at large for City Council have been invited.

Stuart Warner, a Hudson resident and a former associate managing editor at the Akron Beacon Journal and writing coach/projects editor at the Plain Dealer, is the moderator.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions.

RICHFIELD

Walking tours

RICHFIELD: The Richfield Historical Society will host one-hour History of Richfield Walking Tours on Sundays during October.

The tours begin at 1 p.m.

The first tour, Oct. 4, will start at the Historical Society Museum, 3907 Broadview Road, and will be a 1-mile stroll west on Streetsboro Road, followed by an optional ''tea'' at the Taverne of Richfield.

The Oct. 11 walk will begin at the museum and head east on Streetsboro Road to Humphrey Road and back.

The Oct. 18 walk will commence at the museum, head north on Grant Street, west on High Street and then south on Broadview Road, ending at the Museum.

A walk through the West Richfield Cemetery on Broadview Road will take place Oct. 25, starting at the cemetery flagpole.

Also offered Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. will be a ''Memories of the Black School District'' program at 2813 Columbia Road, sponsored by the Richfield Historical Society and Valley Windows Association.

Discussion will focus on the one-room school house in the neighborhood, the families who once lived in that area, the Columbia Road Cemetery and the military road built by General ''Mad'' Anthony Wayne's army on the way to the Battle of Fallen Timbers.
