NORTH CANTON: Sandra K. Lang has been named director of the North Canton Public Library, effective Sunday.
Lang has held management positions with the North Canton library since 2005. She has served as interim library director following the retirement of Karen Sonderman at the end of June.
''It was not only Sandi's resume but the length of her time with us and her service as interim director,'' said library board President Tom Shoup.
The board chose Lang from a field of 13 applicants, Shoup said.
Lang will receive an annual salary of $65,000, which Shoup described as ''in the average range for libraries our size.''
''I really appreciate this opportunity,'' Lang said. ''It's the best job in town. Even though this is a challenging time for Ohio libraries, it's wonderful to work with an outstanding staff in a community where the library is valued.''
Lang lives in New Philadelphia with husband, Rod Lang, who is assistant director of public relations at Muskingum University. They have two adult sons.
