AKRON

Economics talk

AKRON: A forum on cooperative economics will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 S. High St.

Panelists will discuss buying clubs, credit unions and community barter exchange.

The event, which is free to the public, is sponsored by the Northeast Ohio American Friends Service Committee.

This is the first of a three-part series on economic literacy in November and December. For more information, visit http://www.afsc.net.

BARBERTON

Food for thought

AKRON: The Fair Housing Advocates Association (FHAA) is hosting a series of Brown Bag Lunch & Learn seminars.

The goal is to increase knowledge of fair housing and landlord-tenant issues.

All sessions are free to the public. Participants should bring their lunch and Fair Housing will provide water or juice.

The first seminar on security deposits, deductions and disposition will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Barberton Public Library, 602 W. Park Ave.

The next session on race discrimination will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Barberton library.

On Nov. 24, a session on repairs, remedies and rent escrow will be from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at the Tallmadge Public Library, 90 Community Dr.

The final session on handicap discrimination, accommodations and modifications will be 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Mogadore Public Library, 144 S. Cleveland Ave.

Society's event
BARBERTON: The Republic of Slovenia Consular General in Cleveland, Jure Zmauc, will present a special proclamation for the Slovenian Independent Society Home's 90th anniversary Nov. 21.

There will be a cash bar for the social hour from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Slovene Party Center, 70 14th St. A family-style chicken and steak dinner is at 6 p.m. followed by a program and dancing to the music of the Frank Stanger Band from 8 to 11 p.m.

Cost is $25 per person.

COVENTRY SCHOOLS

Board meeting

COVENTRY TWP.: The school board will have a community meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the theater at Coventry High School, 3089 Manchester Road.

The board will discuss the five-year forecast and necessary cuts due to the defeat of the 4.99 mill levy on Nov. 3.

CUYAHOGA FALLS

Concern about bills

CUYAHOGA FALLS: Falls residents are invited to voice concerns or comments about the increased power cost factor on their electric bills during tonight's public affairs committee meeting.

The meeting, chaired by Ward 1 Councilman Vincent Rubino, will begin 6:15 p.m. in the ballroom of the Natatorium, 2345 Fourth St.

CUYAHOGA VALLEY

Park seeks farmers

VALLEY VIEW: The National Park Service is seeking farmers interested in leasing a 35-acre farm in the northern part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

The farm off Canal Road includes a rehabilitated home and outbuildings.

The property, known as the Edgar Farm, is suitable for fruit and vegetable production, grazing and integrated crop-livestock operations. The farm is available on a 60-year lease.

The property will be open for tours on Thursday and Nov. 23. Call 330-657-2541 for times and location.

Proposals must be submitted to the park service and the Cuyahoga Valley Countryside Conservancy by Jan. 15. For information, contact Stephanie Webb at 330-657-2542.
