STARK COUNTY
Sewer job filled
CANTON: Stark County commissioners have hired Jim Jones as interim sanitary engineer.
County Engineer Michael Rehfus held the title until his death Nov. 10.
Jones, 55, a design engineer for the Stark County Metropolitan Sewer District, will oversee the county sewer and water system.
He will become interim sanitary engineer Thursday at a pay rate of $40.87 per hour.
REVERE SCHOOLS
Donation accepted
BATH TWP.: The school board has accepted a $100,000 donation from the Revere All Sports Booster Club to help pay for new turf at the district's football stadium.
This is the first of three planned payments for the turf.
AKRON
Democratic plans
AKRON: The Ohio Democratic Party will present its Strategic Blueprint for Victory in 2010 at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Laborers Local 894, 720 Wolf Ledges Parkway.

Dinner, auction
LAKE TWP.: The Lake Township Historical Society will hold its 15th annual dinner and ninth silent auction Dec. 4 at the Hartville Kitchen, 1015 Edison St. NW.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7.
Tickets are $16.

SUMMIT COUNTY
Project meeting
HUDSON: The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is holding a public hearing 6:30 p.m. Jan. 5 on the Seasons Road widening project near state Route 8.
The hearing will be held at the Barlow Community Center, 41 S. Oviatt St.
The Ohio Department of Transportation's proposal would affect 75 feet of Mud Brook and four wetlands covering almost 1 acre.
The state needs approval from the EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before the second phase of the road project in Stow and Hudson can proceed.
The application can be reviewed in Columbus or at the EPA's Twinsburg office by calling 614-644-2001.
The EPA will accept written comments through Jan. 12 sent to: Ohio EPA, Division of Surface Water, Attention: Permits Processing Unit, Columbus, OH 43216.
