Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy's women's basketball team will host a charity scrimmage against Rootstown High School's women's team from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at CVCA, 4867 Wyoga Lake Road, Cuyahoga Falls. All proceeds will go to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. $3 or 4 or more food items. Most needed items include boxed cereal, peanut butter, canned vegetables, canned tuna, soup and beef stew.
Thursday
Gennesaret Inc. will host its 18th Annual Home Run for the Homeless four-mile run and one-mile fun run/walk at 8:30 a.m. at Gennesaret's Family Nutritional Center, 517 W. Exchange St., Akron. The event will wind through historic Glendale Cemetery. Olympic track gold medalist Butch Reynolds will lead the event. Registration begins at 7 a.m. http://www.gennesaret.net.
Medina County Chapter of the St. Vincent DePaul Society will benefit from proceeds from the 2009 Meadows Turkey Bowl backyard football game at 8 a.m. at the home of Mike Meadows, 3075 Hood Road, Medina Township. Half of the proceeds will go to the family of Kory Wiita, an injured Highland High School football player. http://www.meadowsturkeybowl.com.

Medina County Women's Endowment Fund will host the Festival of Trees at Christmas in the Colonies, Medina County Community Center, Medina County Fairgrounds, 735 Lafayette Road. Trees and decorations will be on display and available for purchase during the event, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. $5 adults, $4 seniors, $2 children ages 6-10 and under age 5 free. http://www.christmasinthecolonies.com.
Santa's Holiday Wonderland Arts & Crafts Show will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the John S. Knight Center, 77 E. Mill St., Akron. Artists and crafters from seven states will display their works.

Community Education Department of Sandy Valley Local School District will host the 29th Annual Valley Merry Christmas Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Sandy Valley High School, 5362 State Route 183 NE, Sandy Township. No strollers, please.

Dane Foundation, with Fine Productions Inc. and the city of Green, will host Christmas @ Town Park Holiday Festival from 3 to 7 p.m. at Green's City Administration Building, 1755 Town Park Blvd. Activities (some require small fee) include train ride, games, prizes, cookie decorating, make-and-take holiday gifts, greetings for our troops, storytelling and entertainment. Admission free with a nonperishable food item.

Volunteers of Akron Children's Hospital presents the 28th Annual Holiday Tree Festival, featuring more than 300 decorated trees, wreaths, miniatures and other holiday creations available for purchase, at the John S. Knight Center, 77 E. Mill St., Akron. 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays and 2 to 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Admission free.

Junior Achievement is hosting an online auction of more than 400 items at http://www.jaofnco.ja.org. Bidders should check daily for new items. All bidding ends Dec. 3.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association is hosting the Bids for Kids Online Auction at http://www.cvnpa.org. Proceeds help more than 9,000 children from more than 40 school districts in Northeast Ohio visit the park to learn about the environment through hands-on experiences.
Through Jan. 3
Cleveland Play House hosts the 13th Annual Festival of Trees in its promenade, rotunda and lobby areas at 8500 Euclid Ave., Cleveland. Decorated trees and holiday settings are displayed for free viewing Monday through Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
