Craig,
Thanks for all of the years serving and protecting us! You will truly be missed! This mayor needs to come to the realization that qualified personal from within the existing police force is where he will find the best candidate for Mr. Gilbrides successor. Not shoping the position to outside personell. People that put in the work like Craig did. People that know the problems and challenges that this community faces. It is a shame that Craig served all these years and climbed through the ranks to get where he is only to be ran out by a mayors attempt to micromanage.

You talk like 58 years old and not wanting to work anymore is a bad thing....why would one want to work any longer than he had to knowing that the guy you were working for is doing everything possible to tear apart your orginazation. Crackronsfinest hit the nail on the head with his last sentence

Mayor; What do you do if Hall leaves. It's been so long since you promoted anyone, you just ran out of Deputy Chiefs.

Peel n stick. That is the whole point. There will be no more Deputy Chiefs and there will be a chief from the outside.

Thank you for your service Chief Gilbride. Your job was made much tougher by the juveniles beneath you and the juvenile above you.

Good luck to Gus Hall. He is a good man. I would not want to be in his shoes.

r m Kraus: There are only 2 reasons that a man who loves the APD more than life would choose to leave at the ripe old age of 58. 1) There are greater things in store. 2) Things are worse than we can imagine.

Gus hall a good chief it is a shame he has Plusquellic for a mayor. He would do great things with APD if he didn't have Plusquellic as an an chor along with Sommerville

Remember Gus....you have enough time in to retire with a decent pension and your self-respect. PLEASE don't become a puppet for the mayor, and don't let him push you around.....our City can't afford it!!!!

RM Kraus - Happy Thanksgiving, young man!

I always respect your wisdom and experience. However, the law enforcement profession is one that by nature, is a younger man's vocation. The stress of the job takes it out of you, and Craig has had some tough assignments!

I retired when I was a little younger than him, and am happy working fewer hours in a related, and less stressful profession now while collecting a pension I earned. I also have time to spend with my family and enjoy a hobby I never had time for while on the job.

To each his own. I'm happy for Craig....far too many guys get carried out of APD feet first!

@retired - well said "..far too many guys get carried out of APD feet first!"

where is the story of the two officers injured in the early morning stolen car pursuit? ABJ must feel there is no real news on the holidays....

Interim chief to the interim chief. If the status quo remains, we should all count our blessings.

Thin out the herd: We wouldn't want to report anything that may give public support to the police now, don't be silly.
