Former doctor arrested after hospital release
By Phil Trexler

Federal authorities have charged the Cuyahoga Falls man accused of concealing an arsenal of bombs and firearms inside his apartment.
Agents arrested Mark A. Campano, 56, after his release Wednesday from Akron General Medical Center.
Special Agent Kim Riddell, of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives, said Campano is accused of violating federal firearms and explosives statutes.
He appeared in U.S. District Court in Akron on Wednesday and remains in federal custody. FBI agents were at his home earlier in the day and removed evidence, according to Special Agent Scott Wilson.
A former neighbor said Wednesday that Campano often spoke negatively and went on ''rampages'' about the government. Once, she said, Campano shared anti-government videos with another resident.
Barbara Vachon, 68, who moved from the Center Avenue apartment in June, in part to get away from Campano, said he often wore a suit but his shirt was untucked and his hair was often sloppy.
She recalled one time when he injured himself while tinkering with an explosive.
''I knew that he was against the government and that he had radical ideas,'' she said. ''I was worried that he was into something like bomb-making.''
Cuyahoga Falls police discovered an arsenal of weapons inside Campano's apartment
following an explosion there Monday night.
Campano, a former doctor, injured his hand in the explosion. Residents inside were evacuated through early Tuesday morning.
Police say they recovered at least 35 homemade pipe bombs and 17 firearms one a .38-caliber pistol with a homemade silencer from the apartment. Other bombs were in stages of construction. Ammunition was also recovered.
Police said they also found a weapon inside Campano's car.
Campano, an anesthesiologist, lost his medical license in 2006, according to documents from the Ohio Medical Board. A history of chemical and alcohol dependency, self-prescribing and relapses dating back to 1989 were cited by the board.
He had lived at the apartment complex about four years.

There needs to be some sort of control with this stuff. What happens when the terrorists accumulate the means to build bombs, and tons of ammo?
cuyahoga falls made msnbc front pg news with this one..... nice pr for the area
wonder if he has a ccw
Home grown terrorist ...
Looks like he wins the "F-up of the Year" award. How sad.
and how many more of him are out there??
just waitin' for it all to hit the Fan...
@MaD ~ ...What happens when the terrorists accumulate the means to build bombs, and tons of ammo?
Probably the same that happens when a 'FORMER' Muslim now claiming to be a 'Christian ‘and becomes a preacher but continues to preach Muslim rhetoric in his church, and in reference to our country being attacked on 9/11 stated that "America got what she deserved...America's chickens are coming home to roost". And then one from this Preachers flock, who also has a STRONG Muslim background and who has long surrounded himself with known terrorist and other Muslim radicals then becomes the President of the country.
Now consider that this same Closet Muslim, who just became the President, NOW has control of all the Military along with the weaponry and armaments of the country. Why, with that kind of power one could silence their adversaries and bring about a 'CHANGE' that would sure to bring honor to his god Allah.
And considering that this President would also now have the country’s legal system at his disposal with and endless source of finance, God help the persons deemed to be his adversaries as they are now with little 'HOPE'.
@Fat Painter - Today I am thankful I do not have to read any more from you. I'm going to see my family. We're already at our quota for crazy.
@stacie - huh?
must be a democrat
No not a democrat the NRA supporters are republicans.
NRA supporters are Americans!!!!!!!!!!
someone's in a glass house throwing stones
some people just aren't smart enough to know they're stupid
I'm guessing that stacie is someone who wouldn't hold the door open for me at the Circle K.
Acorn Community Activist?
Looks like it is time to reset the standard way of thinking back to the 1950's and let's try again. The past four decades of changes are a shameful backward direction for this counrty and it's founders
this is another reason the inteligence agencys need to be linked. the ATF should have known the amount of black powder he was buying, just like you have to scan your license to bye cold meds. there is so much that could be done to provent crime in our country, but people are too afrade to let it happen.
The man's gun and ammo ownership was not what is causing him problems with the ATF.
On the other hand, "35 homemade pipe bombs" and a "homemade silencer" will get you some time behind bars every time.
@rat, I agree, what's up with stacie? I don't see anyone on here offering support for this nut. As usual, race has nothing to do with it but someone's got to interject it where it doesn't belong.
The article quotes that former neighbor with "She recalled one time when he injured himself while tinkering with an explosive".
So, this has happened before? And he was able to do it again?
"She recalled one time when he injured himself while tinkering with an explosive.
''I knew that he was against the government and that he had radical ideas,'' she said. ''I was worried that he was into something like bomb-making.''
There's a nexus between tinkering with explosives and bomb making?? No way, José.
