The Our Lady of the Elms 21st annual Author! Author! series begins on Wednesday.
The series is the Akron school's major fundraiser for scholarships. It has contributed more than $400,000 for Elms students.
The events will be in the auditorium of the high school, 1375 W. Exchange St. They will begin at 11 a.m., when books are available for purchase. A buffet lunch starts at 11:30 a.m. The authors will speak beginning at 12:30 p.m., followed by book signings and dessert at 1:15 p.m.
The cost to attend the lunch, lecture and book signing is $65 for the entire series or $25 for a single event. Cost of the lecture and book signing only is $35 for the series or $15 for one event.
Patron packages are available for $100, and include preferred seating in the auditorium and a listing in the program.
The featured authors and their titles are:
Wednesday: Brian Groh, Summer People; Bonnie Bajorek Daneker, The Compassionate Caregiver's Guide to Caring for Someone with Cancer.
Oct. 24: Robert Olmstead, Coal Black Horse; Russ Musarra and Chuck Ayers, Walks Around Akron: Rediscovering a City in Transition; Betsy Carter, Swim to Me.
Nov. 14: Dalia Sofer, The Septembers of Shiraz; Mary Ann Winkowski, When Ghosts Speak: Understanding the World of Earthbound Spirits; Connie Schultz, . . . And His Lovely Wife: A Memoir from the Woman Beside the Man.
