Beacon Journal staff report

A man and woman were robbed of cash and jewelry Saturday evening after returning to their residence.

Akron police said the suspect remains at large.

According to a police report, the couple saw a man standing on their front porch as they approached their Berwin Street home about 7:30 p.m. When they stopped, he came to the driver’s side of the car, opened the door and struck the man in the head with a gun.

He stole a bag containing $25 and a ring and necklace belonging to the female passenger before fleeing into the neighborhood.

The driver was treated at Summa St. Thomas Hospital for a cut on his forehead.

Officers said they recovered the jewelry in the backyard.

The victims were able to provide only a minimal description to police. They said the man was white, stood about 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall, and had a thin build. He wore all dark clothing.
