Authorities have yet to positively identify the body of a woman found Friday night behind a flooring business.
A spokesman for the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday that the office is awaiting the results of fingerprint analysis before confirming the woman’s identity. No family member has contacted the office, he said.
Akron police tentatively identified the woman as a 52-year-old city resident. However, policy requires a forensic identification process, such as fingerprints, dental records or DNA comparison.
The woman’s body was discovered about 10:30 p.m. Friday on a rear loading dock at F. Cunningham and Sons Carpet and Flooring, 207 E. South St., police said. The woman suffered severe head trauma.
An unidentified man was seen with the woman just prior to police being called.
Police are investigating the death as a homicide but have not identified a suspect.
