Boil alert issued because of water main break in Hudson

Beacon Journal staff report

A water main break on Middleton Road in Hudson today has prompted a boil advisory for Akron water customers in Hudson and Twinsburg Township, north of Middleton.

Customers in this area should boil their water until further notice, according to a press release from the city of Akron.

People who live in that area but don’t have Akron water service aren’t affected.

Water should be boiled for two minutes before drinking it. The advisory is expected to last at least 24 hours.

Akron is expected to repair the water main by 6 p.m. Wednesday, however an exact time won’t be known until a full shutdown occurs and excavation begins.

The break affects about 250 water customers west of Lascala Drive, including the Chadds Ford allotment.

For more information, call Akron Water Distribution Dispatch at 330-375-2420.
