2 killed, 1 injured in Northeast Ohio pickup truck crash

Associated Press

ELYRIA, OHIO: Authorities in northern Ohio say a single-vehicle crash killed a driver and one of his two passengers and injured the other.

The State Highway Patrol says the pickup truck driver lost control Sunday evening in Eaton Township, about 20 miles southwest of Cleveland in Lorain County. The driver struck a utility pole, causing the vehicle to flip several times.

Authorities say 23-year-old Nicholas Russell of North Ridgeville and 24-year-old Jeffery Bouman of Columbia Station died at area hospitals. They say 23-year-old Jordan Smith of Grafton was treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

Troopers say it’s not clear if the three were using seat belts.

Authorities believe Russell was the driver. They say they have not determined whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
