Two suspects have been arrested in the Sept. 22 strangulation of an Akron man whose body was dumped outside a West Miller Avenue apartment.
Jerel Knights, 22,is charged with murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. Doniere Love, 23, is accused of tampering and abuse of a corpse. Both men were being held in the Summit County Jail.
They are accused in the strangulation death of Clarence Keyes, 50, whose body was found Sept. 22 outside an apartment in the 400 block of West Miller Avenue.
Police say an anonymous tipster contacted the U.S. Marshals Service and identified Knights as Keyes’ killer. Detectives say Knights and Love were subsequently questioned and then arrested based on information obtained during the interrogation.
Police Lt. Rick Edwards said the three men were acquaintances and that Keyes was inside the men’s apartment on West Miller Avenue on Sept. 21 when a dispute took place. At some point, Knights strangled Keyes. Afterward, Knights and Love moved the body outside, he said.
