2 Ohio men sue over alleged Youngstown State fraternity hazing

Associated Press

YOUNGSTOWN: Two Ohio men who say they were severely beaten in a fraternity hazing have sued a national fraternity, its Youngstown State University chapter and more than a dozen individuals.

Officials with Philadelphia-based Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and its YSU chapter could not be reached for comment Thursday. A recording at fraternity headquarters said the voicemail was full and could not accept messages.

Nine of the men who were named in the suit are charged with felonious assault in a criminal case over the alleged hazing.

Resean Yancey and Breylon Stubbs, both of Youngstown, filed their lawsuit Tuesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. It alleges the beatings occurred early last year. It seeks more than $25,000 from each defendant.

The university suspended the chapter last year over the alleged hazing.
