With many flowering shrubs and trees in full bloom, the Akron-Canton area suffered freezing temperatures overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
Weather data shows the temperature dipping below 32 at least twice -- shortly after midnight and again around sunrise.
The low registered at the Akron-Canton Regional Airport was 29 degrees, according to the weather service's hourly data from overnight. That was three degrees below the record low 32, set in 1925. The average low is 51.
Temperatures could fall into the 30s again tonight and Sunday night, with additional threats of frost.
More seasonal temperatures are not expected until Memorial Day, when the high is predicted to be 71.
