A 15-minute police chase Monday through West Akron and North Hill led police to a man wanted for a shooting at a used car lot.
Garland V. Phelps Jr., 35, of Orlando Avenue, was charged with possession of Oxycodone, trafficking in Oxycodone, willful flee and two counts of attempted felonious assault on a police officer after officers finally stopped him.
Police say Phelps tried to ram a police cruiser at West York Street and Dayton Street. Officers recovered Oxycodone pills and more than $5,000 in the car.
After the chase, officers searched a home on Maxen Drive where the chase started and ended. Jeremiah Rowe, 29, of Maxen Drive, who had a felony warrant for a November shooting, and Jimmelle A. Moore Jr., 18, of 21st Street in Canton, were both arrested at the home.
Investigators say they recovered 56 grams of heroin, more than 50 grams of marijuana and a loaded handgun.
Rowe had been wanted by police for discharging a firearm, weapons under disability and aggravated menacing for a Nov. 24 incident at Premier Auto Sales, 1155 South Arlington St.
Rowe was accused of driving onto the car lot and firing shots at the building over a dispute with the business. He is also charged with weapons under disability, trafficking in drugs, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana and possession of criminal tools.
Moore was charged with possession of marijuana and occupying a drug premise.
All three men are in the Summit County Jail.
