Beacon Journal staff report
Two suspects have been charged in connection with a series of cigarette thefts that have taken place in area convenience stores.
Kevin Moultry, 42, of Akron, is charged with robbery. A second robbery suspect has been identified as Adrian Wright, 44, of Akron. Moultry has been arrested; a warrant is pending for Wright, court records show.
Police say they were identified from surveillance video inside the Circle K at 1842 Newton St., where a clerk was shoved out of the way and two cartons of cigarettes were stolen Feb. 6.
Police released the video last month in the hopes of identifying two men they say targeted convenience stores at least 12 times since October. Police say about 60 cartons of cigarettes were stolen during the span.
Akron police said the men typically have visited area stores and asked to purchase five or more cartons of cigarettes. Once the items are on the counter, the men grab the cartons and flee.
Moultry and Wright are only charged in one of the cases.
