An Akron couple has been arrested on multiple theft and robbery charges for allegedly stealing a variety of items — from condoms to energy drinks — in Summit, Portage and Stark counties.
Clayton James, 23, and Amanda Haren, 23, were arrested Monday afternoon by Akron police and Summit County sheriff’s deputies.
They are accused of stealing hundreds of dollars of items from drugstores and grocers in several municipalities, including Akron, Hudson, Kent and Lake Township. In one recent theft, Uniontown police say the couple stole $300 worth of condoms and about $100 worth of energy drinks from one business.
Police believe the couple would sell the items to other stores, which then would resell the items.
Uniontown police put out a news release Monday morning after nearly arresting the couple during a theft at the Marc’s store in Hartville a week earlier. The couple is accused of injuring an officer while trying to drive away from the store.
